O/T: Co-driver/Navigator needed 9/12/09

Co-driver/Navigator needed for Saturday 9/12. Should be able to make sense out of a road book/directions
, good with maps & GPS, and do well with fast twisting roads in a small car. Lack of motion sickness
is a definite plus! Be prepared for 252 miles of twisty back-country roads; roughly 8 hours. Overnight, and second day option as well.
It's the California Melee this weekend. And for those of us that didn't make the 50 car cut for the Melee
, there's the 2009 Rogue Rallye! It leaves 9am Saturday morning from Marin, and stops that evening in Ft. Bragg. Sunday is the return leg of the rally.
There's a small group of us that are doing Saturday only. Right now I have a pending navigator, but I haven't gotten 100% confirmation he'll be here Friday night. So, I need to find a back-up nav. I can pick you up Saturday morning on the way to the starting point. It'll be early, since we have to be in Marin by 8am for the drivers/safety meeting.
THIS IS NOT A COMPETITIVE EVENT. THIS IS NOT A RACE. THIS IS STUPID AMOUNTS OF FUN!!!
Safety is the utmost priority, so driving will be close to sane, and speeds will be "of a safe and prudent nature based on road conditions".
So if you feel like strapping into a noisy, somewhat unforgiving, nimble driving, 35 year old German track car and taking off into regions unknown, drop me a line.

I'd love to, but just *looking* at WRC on tv makes me want to hurl chunks.
Best of luck finding someone with no hint of motion sickness.

It's not that kind of rally.
All the cars on this one are pre-1975 Brit & Euro touring and sports cars. Not to say that they aren't zippy and quick, but they won't be sliding around in the dirt all day. Well, at least not intentionally!

Ah, memories of Cannonball Run!
Not quite Cannonball style, but just as much fun! Silly attire is highly encouraged!

got room for a kid's seat?
if yes, my daughter & I are in! she loves fast, twisty roads, and encourages me to "catch air" going down Gough (when mom isn't in the car...)
I may be able to dig up an old Raoul Duke costume, daughter has a pink tu tu, i am 1/2 way decent with a map, not so much on the GPS...
Sounds like serious fun, if i wasn't MrMom this weekend, i would be in!
Good luck!

Nope, sorry, no room for kiddie seat. Heck, there isn't even room for the OEM back seat...the roll cage bolts into the floor where the seat used to be!

duckwrench13 ... you dodged the bullet on DTM being a navigator ... that would have ended with a helicopter ride for certain.

Some carb gremlins have taken up residence under the hood, so there's a very slim chance the whole thing may be off for Saturday. But just in case it's only a minor hiccup, I still need a co-pilot. Seriously, isn't there anyone who's up for some adventure?!
