"Furthermore, improved debris fencing has been added in a bid to ensure that should a car get launched into the air like Kubica's last year , then it will not endanger cars heading out of the hairpin on the other side of the wall."

That was my first thought. The wall is quite low - waist high.

I think "quick Nick" should be worried about "rapid Robert"

If he wasn't German he might already be driving a Force India car Wink

That should make Kimi feel better. He probably would have won that race. Still I'm thrilled for Robert (and for BMW)

he doesn't have a lot of room to talk after ass-packing sutil last week. he's more irked that it happened in pit lane than anything else.

Kimi would probably have won? Were there 2 F1's on this weekend? because the one I was watching had Hammy pulling the field by 3/4's of a second per lap on the worst tires (super soft) ntil his *ahem* little incident.

The best man won. I was so happy, i thought i was gonna cry. Now that he's gotten the 1st out of the way, the 2nd one should come easier.

Man o man, Heidfeld looked fit to be tied on the podium. Probably the face of a guy whos gonna take a lot of shit for not being the German driver who was supposed to deliver BMW their first win.

Coulthard looked to be the happiest guy in the world for 3rd place. Good on him. I love that guy. Square heed and all.

Kimi got hisself a little karmic retribution for Monoco. Not that it mattered to Force India since Sutil DNF'd again.

Poor Hammy. The sophomore jinx is really bitting him hard. His dad looked to ready to giving out ass whoopings.

psshh! Kimi was just resting the first 5 laps. He had a late night. Not sure if you noticed but by the 7th lap Kimi had pulled the best lap of the race (even better that hammy). And IIRC there were 2 drivers in front of sir hamilton just before he pulled his kamikaze run into the Ferrari.

So lets just say hamilton did remember that red means stop. Kubica would have held up lewis for a bit allowing Kimi to pull away. There was a very good chance Kimi would have won.  But of course that's just speculation  Grin

edit: apparently Kimi's left front was graining at the beginning but started to improve before the safety.

so i was right at turn one, but couldn't see the pits from my seats.  fantastic race.  I'm very happy to see Kubica and BMW get a win, and a 1-2 at that!  well deserved.

never knew there were that many polish racing fans in Canada!  they are rowdy!

i'll post up some pics or a link once i get them hosted somewhere.

track conditions were atrocious prior to the race.  during the Ferrari Challenge support race it sounded like the cars were driving on gravel.  lots of track bits getting flung up into their wheel wells.  they brought out this nasty smelling sealer and fixed up the racing line prior to the main event, at turn one at least.

Kimi and Ferrari need to take advantage of Hamilton's penalty in France...

So does Kubica, seeing as he is the Championship leader now.

I asked my father the same thing about all the polocks in Montreal. He wasnt aware of a large Polish community either. BUT, I do know that there are large Polish communities in Buffalo and Chicago. So maybe they came up or the race.

FWIW, I got to listen to part of the race live on Sirius 125 on the way from my house to my fathers house where I caught the last 20 on Fox. The announcers didnt do a half bad job. Both were UK based fellows, so maybe Sirus simulcasts the Eurosport feed or something. We left after the race to go to dinner and they continued on with the Post Race interviews on Sirius long after Fox went to something else at 3pm.

I think it's funny that a Polish driver is helping a German team win.  laughingdp
