In first grade I had 7 teeth pulled.


I got braces in 6th grade and got them off right before my senior year of high school.

I had one lower tooth that had an obstruction, so they had to surgically dig in there, remove the fragment, slap a bracket on there and then pull it up by wiring it to the cross section wire of my braces. It make the beast with two backsing blew. I wore retainers for 5 years, stopped wearing them. Well, now my tooth they had to extract is make the beast with two backsing crooked, so I need some braces to fix it.

I had buck teeth growing up and I remember my orthodonist saying once:

"You'll have to be seven feet tall before you grow into those teeth"


Well, mothermake the beast with two backsing drunk fat no glove wearing prick..........I did grow into them and I am 5' 7"

You can actually have it done at Ohio State Dental School for a lot cheaper.

but again........a dental student is doing it with a profess/dentist over their shoulder.

That is what Tiff is going to do.

At NIH, they will remove your wisdom teeth for free as long as they can have a bone fragment to study.  My sister did it with great results. 

Ive got 4 wisdom teeth that move around occasionally.  Havent hurt badly enough to yank them. (In other words I'm a huge Pussy when it comes to any medical procedures).

If they give me the gas, Im going to have to have a trusted "representative" on site in order to not give away any secrets....

BTW the same "representative" is under strict orders to confiscate and destroy both my computer and cell phone in case of my untimely demise....

It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, I had 8 teeth pulled (including 4 wisdom) at one when I was 17. They plugged me into the IV and told me to count backwards from a hundred, I got to ninnety ni before i was out. Woke up 2 hours later and was eating about 5 hours after that.

No worries mate.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

I've had 3 pulled in 2 sessions 10 years apart. Each time, I was only anesthetized with a local shot of Novocaine and went to work right afterwards with a mouthful of gauze to soak up the blood.

Never took the Vicodin afterwards either.

a couple of years back i got 4 of mine pulled out, but they had to put me under cause mine never came throught, so it was a surgery, they gave me perks for that and much needed let me tell ya. but the puddling, soup and yada yada diet helped me loost a few pounds  [laugh]

then a year later i went and he numbed me and then pulled 4 more teeth so we get the braces and get my teeth back in order

Copy. Calibration error = humidity, altitude, attitude to tutu, distraction from tutu, stereotype naked rat bikes, human error due to heat, tutu and jealousy!

My local anesthetic ran out partway through the procedure.  Although they tried to inject me with more, it had lost its effectiveness on me (I could even feel the needle). 

At that point they still had 2 teeth to drill out so they just did it as quickly as they could. :-X

I'm 39 and still have all my wisdom teeth. I remeber them hurting when I was 17 for about a week and that was it. Guess i'm lucky.

impacted vs bone impacted

mine were bone impacted, they were against the jaw bone.  at that point, it's not dental work anymore, goes on your medical. 

i have 3 more up in there but doc says they don't look like a problem and might be reabsorbed.

When I was at Miami U. at Oxford , Ohio my wisdom teeth were impacted. I do remember they hurt like hell.

I now remember , they never came in. I guess that is what impacted means.

Even so , I never had them extracted.

I don't know why but that was in 1967 and my memory is a bit IZ_ during that time period.  ;D

My Brother had his ( all 4 ) cut out at OSU and they didn't give him any pain medicine.

On the way home he came out of the anesthesia and was in a lot of pain so we stopped and called our Dentist who called in a script for pain meds.

I guess I am lucking out this time, it has been 10 hours since extraction and I am not feeling much pain. Just changing the cotton.  I actually went for a short ride.   [thumbsup]
(all i know is that the previous extraction hurt like hell for a few days)
I don't think I can keep on going without eating tonight, screw it I am getting a jello.

congrats to those who healed fast.

for those who haven't had it done : my dentist recommended lots of vitamin c starting a couple of days before.  You get a jump on the healing process.
