He was 39, husband, father of 2, from small town Iowa, sold wine for a living, was a bass player in a local band, had lived in a Italy for a little while, drove a 5 series BMW wagon, and rode an '08 black speed triple.
Thank you for sharing a little bit about your friend with us, Mitt. David sounded like an amazing man.
It sounded like a decreasing radius / speed (50>30>10mph) downhill curve, and he locked the brakes and low-sided coming into the 10mph apex and hit the guard rail.
I wanted to remind everyone else here that they have loved ones, and ride within your limits at all times.
And a GOOD reminder this is, however inconceiveably sad. You might know a road inside out, but if you can't see all the way through a turn you do not know what is on the other side, and if you are already riding ten-tenths you have nothing left to maneuver with if something comes up. It doesn't matter how good of a rider you are at that point.
Yes, this is a must. Either the individual will be mature and listen and learn, or he'll gaff it off. I've rarely meet anyone who meets the first description, and many who meet the second, in which case I no longer ride with them.
