Believe it or not there are times when I actually do not like riding the 999 and like riding a more upright position bike like the ST4s. I know that's hard to believe right? A Duc cruiser? Hmmm...might work.

Whaa?   Grin Grin

watch the cruiser bashing RED boy.  Tongue

there is pleasure in going slow with the radio/Ipod going and the woman on back.  That rendition however is NOT a cruiser of any type.  Certainly not anywhere close to a Vmax or the like.  I saw the new Vmax at the dyno pulling over 200 ponies at the rear wheel.  Had to leave so I didn't see the final numbers but it's a rocket.

Yes, the V-Max is arguably in a different category than a 70 hp cruiser. Yamaha calls it as a Muscle Bike. Not sure about the wheelbase, but with a custom triple tree, you could shorten the trail and quicken the steering... a set of clip-ons and some custom rearsets later, and you wouldn't have anything a girlfriend or wife would want to ride pillion on...but you would, I'll bet. I like it... I might even like it enough to buy one.  That is IF it's priced realistically; unlike one of their recent creations (que pix of rediculously over-priced Street Fighter).  What are the chances?  laughingdp

Can't wait to see the new Multi, though.

Wait a god damn minute. Where did Dax actually see a Vmax put out 200Hp at the rear wheel on a dyno? A stock 2009 Vmax? I guess he needs to tell all the bike mags how make the beast with two backsed up they are. I want proof of that claim. I have never heard anyone say it puts out that much hp.Tongue I maybe be off but I need proof of that. I'll be happy to eat those words but I need to see it. I heard and read it was actually slower than the original Vmax. Was up? Huh?

I never said it was stock, it obviously had some goodies on it.  I saw it in Houston at a friend's shop and if I had play money I'd have one of those bad boys......to hell with a pillion rider on that rocket.
The new one is slower than the original 85 but that's top-end.  You put a PC5 in it to change the rev limiter and vuala it's faster than the original.

+2 on that Lisa...I like the looks of it also.   cheeky

Muskrat - you should have seen the "decked out" V-Max at Sturgis this year.  Lots of PM (Performance Machine) and carbon fiber stuff, I think the price was around $30K.  Looked hawt though.

That is a s#@t load of horse power!! Was it turbo'd? Yeah, who gives a crap about top end on a bike like that anyway? Where's Pee Wee Gleason when we need him? Surprised Yammyhammer didn't resurrect that old style of ad for the release of the new Max. Would have scored a lot of points with us AARP members! laughingdp

As per my cobweb thinking from the reviews a few months back about the Vmax:
200hp
12-13's @ 113 in 1/4 mi., 128 top speed
nearly 600 lbs.
no gas milage
0-60 in sub 4 secs

True it's a muscle bike but obviously it can do some handling in the corners because at the MSR track day a couple of weeks back there a rather LARGE man in some REALLY LARGE leathers riding one! He was actually keeping T busy in the corners but couldn't pass it in the straights. If you want to see a video of him take a look on YouTube and find the RideSmart MSR Cresson 8/31 event level 1 vids (you'll also see T and I). Watch for the Vmax with a LARGE man riding in blue and silver leathers.

you're telling me T and/or you were taking him in the straights or taking T in the straights?

I rode one many years ago, 1986 model year I think, and trust me it's a phuc in rocket.

Agreed, it is a speedster. T could not over take him. He was gunning it down the straights but really slow in the corners. What a sight to see though. This guy was huge! Not T the Vman.

true, he hammered it in the straights and aquatted in the corners, but I've improved on my corner passes and I don't believe he would hold me up any longer....  All I would need is a slight jump on him and he'd never pass me in the straights.  And we all know he would never pass me in a corner cheeky
