Help Needed. Fuel Gushing Out Filler Cap
«

So last time I filled up, I fired up the bike, headed down the road and fuel came pouring out of the filler cap, all over the tank, onto my pants, etc. It only lasted a few seconds then stopped. I attributed it to over-filling the fuel tank, although I didn't fill it any higher than usual.
Today, I went for a ride, fuel light comes on, I fill the tank, and soon as I close/lock the filler cap, gas comes gushing out of the filler cap area. Not out of the visible outer gasket, but out around the cap itself. I open the cap, and I see fuel pooled up where the cap closes. While the cap is open, no fuel gushing.
Again, I close the cap, lock it, seconds later fuel starts gushing out again. It's not slowing down. So I ride the bike home like this figuring I can burn off some of the fuel, stop the gushing and figure it out at home. So I fire it up and it gushes for a few seconds, but then stops as I'm riding.
I get home, shut it down, and fuel starts gushing out, cap still closed.
I fire the bike up again, take it around the block figuring I'd definitely burn enough fuel to stop the gushing. Nope. I get back home and same thing. Soon as I turn the bike off, fuel gushes out of the cap area. So, right now my bike's sitting there with the cap semi-open because that's seems to be the only way to stop the gushing.
There's no fuel coming out of the vent hose hanging under the bike. WTF?

I merged your threads since they were identical.
More info about the bike would be nice - year, size, fuel ingected or carbs, etc.?
Have you messed around with emmissions canister and hoses?
When you pop the cap, do you here a pop like it is under pressure, or a whoosh like it was under vaccum?

Was any work done on your bike recently? Excessive fuel pressure is probably being released through the vent in the fuel cap. The question is why. The answer might be the last person routed hoses wrong or one of the internal hoses has a leak, this includes the steel lines.
Guess I'm a little late.

You need to check both the vent and drain hoses, with the cap open, you will notice a drain hole and a rubber bush to the rear (this is the vent). Cover either one with your fiinger, blow into the drain hose, air should come out of the other 'hole', cover the other 'hole' and check.
