Actually what I noticed first after the sign was the rider in the foreground. I was going to say I thought Statlers bike was white, not black.

Ouch!

Plus the HD sign is orange.

You pass the color test too.

Yamaha could have a big blue sign in the shape of their logo (Instrument tuning forks).

Honda's could be red in the shape of...um...uh,  Hell if I know, maybe a car or a lawn mower.
But they didn't.

Maybe we should just call FAIL on the post title and the photo being that there is also Honda and Yamaha as well as HD represented in the pic.

Nice attempt though.

My sis and brother-in-law are Harley owners and that would been a great pic to send them.

I was trying to figure out what bike it was, BMW?
I think it probably is a BMW.  There is a chance that it could be a Moto Guzzi.  I did find the picture on a Guzzi forum.

lol @ opening thread picture

I was down my local ducati dealer at the weekend dropping my bike (a 696 monster) off for its first service
as i rolled up it was harley mayhem. The riders dealership near me sell harley buell and ducati bikes

Well i got off my bike and walked into the dealer and literally got eyeballed by three aging bikers sat on a picnic table
which was placed next to the bike park. It wouldn't have been so bad but these guys were wearing leather waistcoats
leather trousers with criss cross style drawstrings on the side with old style german helmets to boot.
Jesus it almost felt like i had walked on a MTV video for a remake of a village people song.

I mean the eye-balling could have been a "village people" kind of look but it wasn't they were actually trying to psyche me out  Roll Eyes

What did i take away mentally from the whole harley mini meet ? well i would conclude that the average harley rider is a forty plus year old with a fetish for wearing leather and a need to have a bike that vibrates so much that they can feel the parts of their bodies they dont use anymore. Controversial opinion yes maybe but true ? Near me im afraid so

Next time im going to the dealer wearing some drawstring pants but that will be only so be the harley crew
dont try anything "pulp fiction" like on my good self

Interesting exercise, KB -- I noted the Harley sign first for a couple of reasons; I'll list them in what I think is the order from least to most important:

1) It's orange, as has been noted, but it's more the AMOUNT of orange that makes up the sign -- Honda's is a chinese red, but it's lost in this IZ_ shot against the white background.

2) The Harley logo is a distinctive shape -- you don't have to read the text to know what it is.

3) In this photo, the Harley sign has the background to itself against the sky, while the Honda & Yamaha signs compete against a really cluttered visual field.

4) I'd seen this photo a while back and knew the punchline already -- it's repetition of brand identity.

5) Because Harleys ARE slow. Like, Duh?

I didn't notice the Harley sign until the second time I saw it. I noticed the Yami and Honda right away...

I'm with Monstermasher.  I looked at the title of the thread, saw the pic, read the sign and first looked at the bike in the foreground before seeing the H-D sign.  Then only saw the other two signs only after going back and looking at the pic a second time.  I have always found it very interesting how branding works so well.

Cool post Travman!   applause

I opened the thread and thought "that's a BMW, not a Harley"

then I saw the HD sign because it's in a large negative space.

then I saw the Yamaha sign, then the honda. I was expecting to see Harley all along due to the title of the thread.
