Car Doors
«

I'm always cautious about cars parked on the street for pulling out or doors opening.
But I never thought I would have a near miss with a car door going down the road.
So here it is:
My wife(695monster) and I (S2R1000) riding early morning last weekend and having a great ride. We decide to take a left off the main road, no big deal(narrow country roads). A car making a right where I'm going left, still no big deal. As I'm starting to lean into my left turn and the car starts past me, their rear door swings open at me and I quickly right myself to get around their door and quickly warn my wife who's riding her monster behind me.
I look in my mirror to see if the car stops to close their door, nope, the door keeps swinging and they keep driving.
I guess the driver could not set down the phone/coffee/cigarette for just a second and drive their car.

Each and every morning during rush hour I am amazed that most people out on the road even have a license to drive.....
Glad you and your wife are OK.

You're so right, because they know where the gas, brake, and horn are, they're qualified to drive.

Glad to hear you and your wife made it safely.
Occasionally we hear about an asshole doing it intentionally for lanesplitters.
(Stupid idea, btw...what do they think that fast-moving heavy object is going to do to the car?

How does one do this, and what is the hand & arm signal ?

My wife and I use helmet communication (blueant). It works really well.

good job. People forget to do shit on their cars all the time. Close the cas gap, drive off with the pump, leave a door open, leave drinks on top of the car etc.
Glad you got away safe!

Had a guy throw his car door open on Soloman's Island Md. on a very narrow street into my boat/trailer as I passed. Cost me $1500 and he was at fault. Long story. It was easier to just pay the bill as it turned out. I got a $1500 bonus the same day. Sorta worked out karma wise.

Forget the door avoid the whole car. I ride like nobody sees me always ready to pass then on the line if needed.
Good for these guys they got the license numbers on video and enough evidence in a hit and run to hang them out to dry.
