And would you? Would you really get rid of a beloved family member over a coax cable? Roll Eyes The point was the plan didn't cover crap, and they couldn't get the credit right etc....

Actually, that was sort of a joke. I don't like having pets around all the time, so  don't have them.

And I'm not going to come down on anyone. I just tend to put myself in the other guys shoes and try not to get mad anymore. I don't like being mad.

That really sucks and is some serious shitty service.

I've had DTV for about 5 years now...not a single complaint...they're great, and I love the service. I even got them to give me a free HD/DVR upgrade about a year ago, and they sent us a portable DVD player about 4 months ago "for being a good customer"...it was absolutely free.

Hopefully they keep the good service up...some of these stories would seriously piss me off.

Here's my Direct TV story again (told it before)

I checked my credit report and found a delinquent on my account from Direct TV at an address where I've never lived.  Not only had I never lived there, but I don't have a TV and haven't in years.

I called them up and wrote a letter, but they wouldn't take it off my credit report.  I did a search and found out that the address was a business. I called up the (small) business and discovered that they don't have Direct TV and there's nobody there that shares my name.

I write two more letters, one each to the reporting credit bureau, and one to Direct TV protesting the ding on my credit, with supporting documents showing that the address is a business.  Well, they just change the address on my credit report to reflect my address and start sending me nasty collection letters.  Many letters later and nothing has resolved.  Bastards are still on my credit report, and I've complained about them to the better business bureau.

Direct TV can suck it.  Jerks.

Damn, You Guys need to come to Australia, You want Shitty Pay TV, we have it!
You have 3 Providers, Foxtel, Austar and Optus, You can't pick and choose between them, as they have a "Gentlemen's" Agreement, they will not cross into each others territory's
I have the Misfortune of Being with Austar:

*HD? What is HD? We have no High Def Channels, and the earliest we can expect them is late next year, most likely 2011.

* There PVR costs an absolute Fortune each month (I refuse to "Upgrade") as it constantly breaks down, deletes itself once a month for no apparent reason, can't track it's own Hard Drive usage, so it will keep telling you it can record, even when the Hard drive is full.

* They now have just as many Adverts on the Channels as free to Air TV (Sometimes worse)
During the Day it is Scary just how many Adverts are on, 7 Ad breaks in 1 half hour show just yesterday.

* A Set top Box that is carved from Stone! This thing is Ancient! it is 8 years old and the best Video out is S video, when I asked about an upgrade to Component Video or HDMI, they didn't even know what it was!

* Useless "Interactive" services, Because of the age of there Set top boxes, they can't run all the new software properly, it takes nearly 5 minutes just to get into the TV guide!

* I moved house Recently, I did the swap over to the next house (it already had a Sat Dish) I set up the box, set all the alignment settings, did all the work.
Rang Austar to advise the address and let them know it was all running, they then Charge me $30 for a New setup and $100 Installation Fee! after about 5 mins of refusing to pay for an Installation that I did, they finally agreed to drop the charge. make the beast with two backswits!

* Tiny bit of heavy Rain or heavy cloud and the service drops out, so in the summer monsoon season we can lose the signal for days.

* Grossly overpriced, because they have no competition they can charge whatever they want!

* I could go on and on for Pages here.....

So sorry Guys, you think your Pay TV is bad in the US, you need to come over to the Dark Side of the TV world, our PayTV providers are still living in the 1980's!

Just because we pay for TV doesn't mean we don't have commercials. My cable service is definitely better than your service though. I feel for you...

Cox cable is pretty good (found in Southern CA and a few other places). I now have time warner which blows.  I wish Vios was available, I've heard good things.

When my direct TV discount ends this winter, im going to find a way to get it canceled ( i signed up for a 2 year contract). It seems like they do the same thing everywhere.

Time warner is great in my area. It never goes down. its a flat rate that includes DTV. HOWEVER, it is expensive. But im sure there is a basic cable package... I only want MSG to watch my rangers hockey and Local channels to watch my football.

I have time warner just for HBO (love their original programming) and NHL Center Ice (my team is from out of town). It's pricey, but I like it as long as I don't need to contact them.
