Hi. My co worker hit my bike in the work parking lot last week. I got a quote for the damages (my co worker is paying for everything) and I came across something kinda odd I thought. The mufflers are quoted at $1,125 Each.

57413001A  1 Silenziatore SX MR696 USA   $1,127.69
57313041A  1 RH Silencer 696 MR/09 USA   $1,127.69

I thought maybe it was a double posting by accident or something so I called. They said the price was correct. I'd heard the Termi slip ons where only $1,500 so I thought I'd save my co worker some cash. The dealership laughed and said the Termi system is far more expensive then the $2255.38 for the stock one. Now I've looked around online and def found them for cheaper. Do you think the dealership is making a mistake or am I missing something here?

The price for the factory exhaust is probably right.  I have seen them quoted other places and they are extremely expensive but the dealer should know that a termi set up doesn't cost $2,300+.

you can get the termi system (slipons, DP ECU and K&N filter) for the 696..

stainless steel for about $900^
carbon fiber for about $1100^
and titanium for about $1300^

also check out the used part section for a god condition used one or put an ad in the parts wanted section.

and your dealer is high. 2255 for the 696 termi system... no way

also if the bike fell over... check the steering stops and make sure they aren't bent.

Thanks, I'll ask the dealership to check the steering stops as well. They didn't seem to look at anything other than the things I noted. Even so, the total bill for repairs comes out to $4,000. I'm going to ask how much they actually charge for the Termi Carbon Fiber. Maybe they are just overpriced all together.

wow 4,000 for the bike falling over in the parking lot. or was there more of an issue?

sounds like frame/engine damage... you should get a list of things the dealer is replacing/repairing.

There's right and left side items in that list, and 2 silencers. Obviously the side it fell on will be chewed up, but was there noticeable damage on the impact (from the car) side?  i guess there has to be... since the shop knows (don't they?) that this is part of an insurance claim.. and so if they add unnecessary items, it legally actionable...

Also, remember that this estimate, is an ESTIMATE - you're not bound to the shop to do the work or source the parts - about all you're on the hook to them for now is that estimate fee. Now generally, if you're having them do the work, they will want to source the parts (since they benefit financially - twice). But if they are trying you sell you a $1300 exhaust hit for $2k or more... then I'd tell them to stuff it.

Of course I've not seen your bike or the damage, but that list is fairly tame and you saying it was a parking lot tip makes me think that you could handle all the work. Or if you're not mechanically inclined at all, any gear head buddy should be able to sort it. And of course, if you have any questions, the Tech and Mods sections will get you answers quite quickly.

Go aftermarket, its cheaper. Termi or other, because Ducati OEM parts are crazy expensive.

I called the dealership, that was the correct price on the stock exhaust, but the girl i talked to was wrong about the Termis. I had them replace the stock exhaust witch the Termi Carbon Fiber slip-ons, the ecu, and the intake for $1200. Seemed like a fair price. Nothing is costing me a dime, my co worker is paying for it all cash. His Toyota Tacoma just scratched it's bumper. The damage wasn't too bad on my bike, but it made a red pinstripe down the exhaust, and scratched up a bunch of the stuff on that list.. Thanks to everyone for you help.
