I think that's a little on the high side, but still way less than they were new.
I was offered an 07 SMR in the fall of 08 for $11,5 for a new one. I found a used (500 miles) 07 SMR and got it for $8300
2010's are coming out, you could argue it's 3 years old, and it's definitely a niche bike. Not everyone is cut out to own and ride a KTM. Do you think it would last until the spring?
If so, you could either wait, or try and leverage that into your deal. Maybe work in a free first service or a couple free oil changes?
Check this out!
Just looked on ebay.
That's a killer deal!! The full exhaust is around $2200-$2500, not to mention all the other stuff with it. If you're nearby I'd highly recommend going to look at this thing.

It is a really nice bike! And while I love the esthetics of the SM-R, I like the larger fuel capacity of the standard SM better. Plus, I am keeping my S1000, so will still have a "sport" bike. I am looking at the SM as more of a commute friendly ride than anything, albeit one that you can get stupendously silly on.

Thanks. There are still plenty of NOS '07s around, so I am pretty sure something will pan out if this one falls through. Now the painful part is letting the Daytona go in order to get the KTM.

Well, I had a 675 before I went to the super moto.
I love the super moto and plan to keep it.
That being said, I regret selling my 675. I'll try to get another one, one of these days. I was just so comfortable and fast on it. Hindsight. . .

So... If you had to do it all over again, would you? Let the Daytona go for the SM?

Hmm, that's a hard question to really answer.
Part of why I sold the umph was because my ex wife's name was on the loan for it with mine, and that was the easy way to fix that when we divorced.
If she was never part of the equation, I would have likely borrowed more money and bought the smr anyway. It is just such a great bike, and I couldn't beat that $8300 price. I didn't think I'd see that price again so I went for it.
So I guess yes I would let it go again for the KTM, but only sometimes.
Those other times, I wouldn't have.
It's a 50/50 split. They're both so great, but in different ways.
I think if I were you, I'd consider getting ride of the monster and keeping the 675. Having the M and the KTM would leave you with two bikes that are very similar (in my eyes)
For me the KTM has it and the monster is only second (but a close second) The 675 is very different than either the KTM or the Ducati.
Hope this helps

I haven't had a monster in over a year. My other bike (currently) is a heavily modded Sport1000, and it is definitely not for sale after all the work that went into it.

My bad.
I thought you had an M1000 for some reason.
Indeed that is much different than a monster, and could fill the gap left by the 675.
Do it!!!

No. It's an '06 Mono with the front end (fork, brakes and such) from a 999, then outfitted with BSTs.
The main reason that I have been looking at the SM is so that I would not have two bikes that are so focused in such a similar direction. I think the SM would make a better urban commuter than the 675 would.

I traded my 620 in for one with no regrets. Most fun bike I have ever ridden.

Good picture. That is one of the angles I liked. I'm normally so conservative with my motorcycle tastes. But this bike is drawing me in.

So, how long did it take you to get used to riding a bike with no tach?

I have the Duke 690, and it has a tach. No problems there. It took me about 3 rides to get used to a little bit of the buzz of the single.
