I'm the current owner of a 2003 model Pathfinder which I'm very much enjoying.  We recently did an 11,000km trip through north Qld and back through Birdsville.
We're not really weekend warrior types.  The vehicle is mostly used for longer trips to out of the way places.

I'm a 4x4 enthusiast Cheesy Or maybe I'm obsessed, I'm not sure Wink

I've got a Suzuki Sierra with big mud tyres, air lockers front and rear, reduction transfer gears and a winch.

A couple of weeks ago there was a 4x4 competition down here in Tassie. There was a time trial event in 2 stages, I came second Cool
I literally had the smallest 4x4 there that day. The only truck to beat me, was a proper "competition spec" Patrol.

Here's my trophy cheeky

I'm looking at a club that bought the land the drive on,and also arrange trips to the outback that all I'm interested in .

Dock you may want to PM 'Rob S' too. I am sure there are groups for all the known and unknown fetishes ... you just need to find like minded deviates.

My young fella is big time into 4x4 and he's part of COR (Canberra Off Road) and he does a bunch of stuff between Sydney and Canberra. He's got a short wheel base Patrol with 6inch suspension lift, 2 inch body lift, lockers front and rear, 35 muddies and all the other geometry and suspension bits.

Their up and coming web site is: http://www.cor4x4.net/

But he recommends you try here: http://www.4wdnsw-act.asn.au/

to find some play mates.

Hey Dock Have been 4wd 30yrs have owned about 12,currently got a blinged up 80 series cruiser. Wink
More a life style thing do a lot of hunting fishing and these days more out back touring time permitting. usually go to Fraser island once a year, done stockton many times and the Simpson desert.

not really into that rock crawling tuff truck deal but it looks good. you really need a weekend warrior truck for that.

I  have never been a member of any club.
But i am a member of a forum style club which has a heap of info http://www.exploroz.com/Default.aspx
Have a look at my profile there Rob s, NSW,
there's  pics of my rig and trips.

I like it it is just like the DMF forum a bit informal.
And they do organize outing etc just like DMF.
http://www.exploroz.com/Default.aspxis  is not vehicle specific.
And more suited for the older dudes.
But there are a lot more forums out there 4wd action and http://www.lcool.org/index.html.

Jules, I think you'll find it's an old hobby that predates the ducs, just reignited. You saw his truck at the bbq at your place - you know, the one that dwarfed the really cool fozzie XT in your driveway that day!
