going to be personal opinion, but i really like the corbins

harder to find than sargents, and more expensive to boot

DP gel seat gets good reviews too  waytogo

I have the DP gel, and actually like its feel better then the Corbin or Sargent. I beleive the fabric the Sargent and Corbin is more durable, i am refering to the softness in this case. I have done 600miles in a day and no butt pain. FYI, i wiegh 150lbs, and 5'7".
Plus the DP seat is only $220 US.

try to test out all of the mentioned first, your butt may vary from others.

One nod to the Sargeant is the smuggler tube under the seat - it's a handy feature. On the down side, there's about 0 padding for a passenger as a result.

Also something to think about it is seat shape. The Sargent seat is wider in back than the stock or dp one. Depending on your build, that additional width may not be as comfy as the thinner stock profile.

if you buy from Corbin, forget customer service. i got a seat from them, if i had to do it again i would NOT get the Corbin. They say the seat padding foam breaks in after 2000 miles mine has yet to feel like a well broken in seat after 3000 miles. And the fitment on the bike was off, also on mine for the 696 the rivets that hold the material on the base pan were set to close to the edge causing them to rub against my subframe. Flatblack subframe with 2 shiny aluminum dimples. I cant get corbin to even pretend to care.

I know Corbin's service stinks.  I've had similar issues.

now, does anyone want to sell me their Sargeant with a DP in trade?  Huh?

Sargeants seats also slope up toward the tank which isn't good for tank huggers like myself.

good luck getting a corbin seat. i hear they are rapidly sinking, and are failing miserably at that whole customer service aspect of running a business. for reference, i have 10 unreplied emails, and 10 unanswered/unreturned phone calls.

Iono... I was thinking of this post.

Iono... I was thinking of this post.

I've heard the same thing and I understand parts unlimited may be dropping them (rumor mind you) and that would signal BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD things for them.

I own both for my '97 Monster.

The Corbin is covered in leather and is one inch lower than stock and lower than the Sargeant.

The Sargeant is covered in a synthetic material, is taller, and has a storage tube underneath that will hold tools, a small beer can, tire "Seal & Air" tire fix-a-flat, or anything else you need to carry.

I prefer the Sargeant.

I am willing to sell my Corbin to anyone who wants a Corbin for a pre-2001 Monster.

Cheers.
