Alright all my BBQ lovin' brothers and sisters, I need some help from some of you in the Memphis area...

One of my co-workers, a fellow BBQ fanatic, is heading down to Nawlins for his honeymoon and they are road tripping down Old Man River through STL and Memphis on their way. They are staying overnight and for most of one day in Memphis and he is trying to track down a few of the best BBQ places in the city...the problemis, Memphis is one of the BBQ Meccas and so it's hard to pick...

So if you had to choose your top 5 Memphis BBQ joints, what would they be?

I'd PM Tizzy

he grew up there, but he doesn't eat pork, so not sure he would be of much help to you.

If he's into ribs, Rendezvous has been around forever. I'm not a rib person, but my friends all love it.

Corky's has delicious yummy meat.  They really know how to do BBQ.  Their sauce is a bit sweet, though.

People back home love Neely's.  The sauce is pretty good, but I like Corky's better.  The Neelys are super nice and will hang out and chat with you.

Interstate is pretty popular (and well-known).  Again, I prefer Corky's.

There are some little hole in the wall places here and there that I frequent more than the others, but the ones I listed tend to be the most popular.

Don't get a room anywhere near Graceland.  It's the hood.  I highly recommend the catfish at Isaac Hayes place on Beale.  Don't wander too far off Beale.  We used to get beaten/robbed tourists in the ER all the time when I worked in the ER downtown.

It's kinda cheesy, but still fun to see the Peabody Ducks.  Have a drink, chill out in the lobby, and watch the duck parade.

Check the Memphis Flyer to see who is playing.  Memphis has a great music scene, and you never know who will be playing at some hole-in-the-wall place.
