technically speaking, it was a part of the Sport Classic Line...so...even though it is a GT, it is a Sport Classic.
You and your semantics. Tongue

In my world, the same frame doesn't make it the same bike.  It's like advertising an S2R1k and actually selling a 1000i.e.  (This despite the way I describe the bikes from other manufacturers, because "rides just like" does not mean "same model.")

A true SC is collectible due to the vagaries of marketing and the ineffable nature of people attracted to shiny things.  A GT is just another bike with a retro look.

semantics it may be, but there was the Sport 1000, the GT1000, and the Paul Smart and they were all under the header "Sport Classic" IIRC as there was no specific bike called the Sport Classic.

Ducati has you as mostly correct... and they were all called SC specifically.

SC as the family (like the Monster family), specific bikes as a random selection of models:

Sport 1000
Paul Smart
GT1000
Sport 1000 Mono
Sport 1000 Bip
Sport 1000

This ^ has always been the impression I've had.

So which one is roundly considered the most desirable? The Biposto with metal tank and dry clutch, yes?

Doesn't exist. They were all expanding nylon.

AFAIK, the '06 Sport 1000 (solo seat) and the Paul Smart (same bike, but with Ohlins and bodywork) are the hot ones.

Probably because they are the first of the line and the only ones available in '06.  Also the only ones with the dry clutch.

That, and they were only made for a year, so numbers are low.

Ahh, I mistakenly thought 2007 was the first year/only dry clutch.

I concur with other above, the GT1000 is a "Sport Classic".  Same line, advertised by Ducati alongside the Sport 1000, etc.

Still, the guy is definitely on crack.  $11000 is absurdly high for that bike.  Low miles and clean, sure... but I believe it's true market value is south of $10k.

How does a 2005 bike only have 1,200 miles on it?  Shame.  :'(

Someone needs to ride this poor bike.

Respectfully disagree, Buck, as it looks to me like some project a guy started and then as he made it he realized it was not that fun/functional.

"the back wheel breaking isn't all that great. so always keep a distance with the car in the front!"
Someone needs to tell this guy that if he's relying on his rear brake to stop him from hitting the car in front, he needs to change his riding technique.

Also: electrical tape = tougher look?  laughingdp

Yea I agree. I'm jus' sayin' it's the kind of thing I'd take off someones hands if it was cheap enough so I could tinker with/finish it myself. With proper BRAKES and no electrical tape.
