just found this on our company for sale site.

maybe it's just me, but 10K for a 9 yr old car with 87K miles is way too much, even if it's an audi turbo with "extras"

6 speed manual
87,500 (current) mileage
Great condition

You can't sell as a private party and expect to get retail. That's why KBB has "Private Party Value" on their site. I ran the specs through it based on my zip and this is what I got:

http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/PricingReport.aspx?YearId=2001&Mileage=87000&VehicleClass=UsedCar&ManufacturerId=4&ModelId=8&PriceType=Private+Party&VehicleId=3754&SelectionHistory=3754|32138|06340|0|0|144174|true|144165|true|144191|true&Condition=Excellent&QuizConditions=

 Excellent   $8,115

Good     $7,515

Fair       $6,790

"$10.5k negotiable"  The odds are they're looking for private party value, but just aren't stupid enough to actually list it at private party value and expect to get that when every crack addict and their dealer is going to show up and offer below trade-in value for it.

i'd be ok paying $7000, but i wouldn't even bother if they start at 10k. i'm not interested in haggling someone down to where it should be. and why not start out lower and let people know that they won't take less? that seems to work jsut fine as well.
and you still get the crack addicts lowballing it anyways.
