It has been done by several people.

Power loss (?)
Looks like shit
Sounds like shit
Bike will no doubt run lean

I have run my s2r 800 this way since 2006.I did 12.1 in the quarter. There is no power loss.I have not experienced any issues.Looks great, sounds great bike runs great.I also lost a bunch of un-necessary weight.
Do a search for my yellow/black s2r 800, under the heading "my bike".
Yet again another post from someone not knowing.......

corey

my bike is running leaner with my full zard system than it did with udder-only.

Loud pipes DO NOT save lives.  Loud pipes piss off your neighbors, get you tickets, and give the general population a poor impression of motorcycles in general, which leads to more restrictive legislation for everybody who rides.  I don't like restrictive legislation.

Be responsible, get some decent mufflers, and ride for the ride instead of riding to pose.  (says the guy with the MH....doh!!)

Not all udders are ugly:

I agree (kind of).
Take that stock fugly to a parts cleaner and blast it.  I cleaned mine at work before going to storage it made a huge difference.  Sure don't remember it being that color in the beginning.  I would guess that a black (or dark) coating would help also.

Stew, that freakin bike is HOT!

Thx!  The udder had some slash pipes welded on the outside of the flanges and then it got Jet-Hot coated.

The lines of the udder aren't too bad, just the stock color and the outlets make it look worse...

my zard pipes are louder than my udder-only setup was. just puts the sound in a different spot.

Stew , Couple questions , Are you running that udder only setup, with a stock motor setup? How does it run ? And is it really loud ? Your tail chop is it a kit or self made ? Where did you chop the frame ? Ie how far in from the stock frame end did you measure and cut . Thanks in advance , and your bike is sweeeet  [bow_down]
I am one fart smella !!

It's not my bike, but one of my customers rides actually...

The frame was chopped when I got it and I *think* the customer bought the 'Cookie1' chop-kit from Monsterparts.com but it's been a while since I've seen that bike.

It's udder only with a stock motor and the O2 sensor unplugged.  Runs?  Good enough.  The customer didn't want to spend the $$$ to get a proper ecu for this bike so we went with what was there.  Loud?  Hell yeah it's loud.  Like don't EVER forget your ear-plugs loud.

Thanks much eddyshore!  [thumbsup]

The way I understand it is that there is more backpressure tied up in the udder/cat converter than in the silencers. Its kind of like a bottle neck I guess. The silencers probably add more restriction to the system but I havnt noticed a change in performance at all. I just pulled my plugs when I did my valves and they looked normal.

I also painted it flat black, its hard to notice. A pedestrian/non monster rider wont even notice it. A lot of people ask me if its custom actually.

Either way it opens up the wheel and shows off the SSS. When theres a floating wheel hanging out back there, very few people are even going to notice the udder, they usually comment about the SSS and oogle that.

And I happen to like it too, so HA!

How long were those extensions off of the udder?  I think that part of the noise issue with just the udder is that the oulets are all but aiming at your right ear.  I think my new exhaust is just as loud as the udder was, but the 4 and 5 inch extension tubes Mark made for my headers pushed it back a little.  Made a difference on the bike, but not behind it.

The angled extensions are about 2" long so it's not much but I think it does help angle it away from the ears a bit.
