Underwhelming.

Davis was a less-accurate, less-powerful version of Jon Jones, and Rashad ate way to many shots for me to think he has a chance against Jones in five months. If Davis had the confidence and stamina to kick for more than just the first round, Rashad may have lost that fight. Jones will mix kicks into his attacks for all five rounds and my prediction is that Rashad will not fare well.

Sonnen squeaked by a guy who only had 11 days to prep. I watched that and thought, "Munoz would have loved to fight this guy in this condition." If Silva is healthy and interested, Sonnen will come back from Brazil in a bag. The only good thing that happened in that fight is it set up a Hendo-Bisping challenger eliminator re-match. I say have it in Brazil before the Sonnen/Silva match... all kinds of marketing angles there. As usual, Sonnen was extremely douchey in his post-fight interview. Way too douchey for a guy that squeaked past a fighter everyone expected him to steamroll... maybe spend more time on boxing and less on coming up with clever stuff to say to Joe Rogan.

Maia looked done. He looked worse than the guy who only found out he was fighting two weeks ago. I think he's two losses away from being cut. He obviously can't outwrestle anyone with serious chops, and his striking is still very poor. Keep it off the ground and Maia can't compete.

I'm interested in Diaz-Condit, but the rest of the upcoming card is meh.

Drops,
I couldn't agree more with everything you had to say.

I just kept thinking, do these guys really think they can beat Jones fighting like this? I see Jones destroying Rashad easily.

As to Sonnen- what the make the beast with two backs? I stopped watching WWE when I was young.  No place for that crap in MMA.  He comes off as desperate and needy instead of intimidating.

Too many douches in MMA. Anyway, good luck finding anyone to match up with Jon Jones. I'm tired of watching the same guys dominate a division.

I fell asleep before the first commercial break.  It's on DVR.  I'm just going to forward through the fight, listen to Sonnen and then delete it!

I've been kicking around the idea of Jones at heavyweight... maybe not right now, but as his career continues onward.  I could imagine his frame easily carrying 240, 245 without him getting slow or wheezy... hell, he's probably 212 or 215 by fight time.  I don't think it would be impossible for him to add the muscle over the next six months and be competitive immediately.  Top guys like JDS right way would be a bad thing, but if he held his own in a couple fights with the big kids, he'd probably be ready.

I don't see Jones trying to be the simultaneous two-division champion in LHW and HW, though.  All that cutting and gaining would be too taxing to sustain.  I think a more realistic prediction is Spider Silva at 205... assuming Silva beats Sonnen convincingly.

Now there's a fight I'd pay to see.

Jones vs Silva would be very interesting indeed.

Noooooo!!   [thumbsdown]

Condit won't even come close to GSP.

I think UFC's finally jumped the shark for me.

That was the longest night ever for disappointing fights.

Going mainstream on Fox. Either one of those guys would get his ass handed to them by GSP 99% of the time. There's always that one night when the planet align.

Mmm I'm not so sure about that, I have the outmost faith in my boy Condit. It was an awesome fight, I can't believe there's any controversy as to who won, It was pretty freaking clear to me and everyone from my gym who watched it.

in other news, my shin conditioning sucks.

This is for He-man

It was a pretty close fight (I do think Condit won), but it was far from awesome...  Maybe the fight was hyped up too much, but I was expecting more of a brawl.

Condit was more aggressive on his feet, but it didn't seem like he hurt Diaz at all.  Diaz should have finished him on the ground.  The taunting BS was lame, especially when you don't back it up.

looks there will be a rematch.   doubt either guy is at GSP's level

Buckethead

The fight was okay. I thought Condit was the clear winner. He had obviously done his research and knew for a fact he didn't want to stand in one place and slug it out with Diaz hockey fight style. He had a strategy and stuck to it. It wasn't an exceptionally aggressive strategy, seemed to be more of a "Get away from the fence, reset, take a few shots, and avoid/evade the counter," but it let him do more damage to Diaz than Diaz was able to do to him. He studied his opponent and created a strategy around Diaz's style.

There probably would be if Diaz had passed his post-fight drug test.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

Interesting. All I saw was a footwork and gameplan clinic from Condit. The first round was close, but after Condit landed 68 (!) Leg kicks onm Diaz, you could tell Diaz just didnt have the bounce to hang with Condit on the feet. Condit did whatever the hell he wanted and landed everything he threw from the 3rd onwards.

And it's not like he was running away. Every time they met in the center Condit was the aggresor, coming in with beautiful combinations that flustered and hurt diaz. He was smart enough to slip out everytime Diaz tried to fence him in, but he always started the engagements in the middle.

And when it went to the ground? Diaz went for the sub attempt, couldn't finish it, and then got reversed. I wish there had been more time to that ground because Condit is so make the beast with two backsing nasty when he's on top of someone.
