...Evans, Rampage all come to mind as fighters who could hang.
No.

Evans is Chris Leben +20lbs and better hands.  Silva would dismantle Evans in much the same manner.  I like Rashad, but there is nothing in his skill set that even comes close to Silva's striking ability right now. And don't start about his wrestling... wrestling is what happens when Rashad fights someone that can't punch or move their feet.  Silva is neither of those.

While there is always the chance that Q will just lose his mind and masacre anything in his path, Silva will bomb him into oblivion.  Silva's just to precise and powerful in his striking... Jackson is succesful at wading through guard and mauling people that can't put him down with shots.  Silva is neither of those.

Machida,
Agreed.  His footwork is excellent for an MMA fighter, and we got to see how he can use his range and counterstriking ability against that Pitbull guy.  That said, Silva moves way better than Machida's last opponent - about as well as Machida himself - and Silva strikes with way more precision and power than Pitbull did. This would be an excellent MMA bout to watch, and I would like to see the UFC make this happen.

I'd also like to be able to do the voice-over for the interview, since both are Brazilians and mostly speak Portugese.  It would be like the worst kung-fu movie you've ever seen, only with more F-bombs thrown in.

So I'm kind of getting pumped for the PPV tomorrow.

Quote of the day from when a columnist asked Silva if he was getting tired of people calling him out.

"I believe that people being a lot more respectful may keep their teeth in their mouth."

Also want to see if Chuch can save his career by getting a nice KO

man he fought like a pussy...

I also didn't care for the other US dude that won.  He is going to get his ass kicked in his next fight

The UK guys seem like they might be a little better than the US guys.

Great fights tonight, is Lidell done? Silva fought a smart fight, but if he was in that much control why couldn't he end it?

I didn't care for Silva from the last fight..now I really don't like the guy.  I'm hoping someone gets in there and knocks him on azz so maybe he'll stop pizzing around.  Complete waste of sleep staying up for that sh*t!  Roll Eyes

I think he's the best fighter in the world, right now. Id love to see him go up to fight Evans or down to fight St Pierre.

Silva- disappointing.

Leites- back to obscurity until you learn to strike.

Chuck- done.  Don't mourn his leaving, celebrate his great body of work while he was here. Thanks for the highlights, and see you on "Entourage."

Rua- not convinced he's gonna clean house in 205, but he'll get another good fight in short order.

Stout- still not complete enough to challenge in 155.  BJ or Sherk would have destroyed him.

Wyman- 1) My money's on a positive test for methamphetamine, and 2) dude, haircut.  WTF?  (BTW, Rogan brought up that he trained with Mikey Burnett - that explains a lot...)

Cantwell- Looked done in the first round of his WEC belt fight vs. Stamm, then came back and flattened him.  Looked done vs. Cane in the first round, then won the second, but dropped the decision.  At 22, he's going to get better and better.  I'll be watching him to climb the ranks.

Cane- Couldn't put away a guy that played right into his gameplan - Cane's a moving-forward straight-shots-all-night guy, and Cantwell just kept moving back in a straight line instead of circling out... Cane should have been able to put out the lights.  I'm not sold on this guy's "devastating strikes," to quote Joe Rogan...

Stamm- Can't write him off.  Anyone training with Greg Jackson will only get better.  Athleticism lost to experience last night.

Stryzyskinskyslyskny (translated from Polish: "he with the awful unfinished back tat"): Hung tough with a banger and choked him out.  Nice work.

I really wish they had shown the undercard fights... I enjoy watching Dennis Kang and David Loiseau very much.

Overall, not a bad night until that snoozer of a final fight.

Vin..don't worry!  You didn't miss a thing!

lol..we were watching at Dave & Buster's last night with friends.  Dumbazzes scheduled a party in the viewing room right before the fight.  It took forever to get them out and the UFC fans in.  When the fight finally started..or was supposed to start, they had techinical difficulties (someone forgot to order it I'm sure)!!  In the meantime, they played an old fight for about 20 minutes ..which wasn't too bad until we discovered it was in Espanol.   Roll Eyes laughingdp

mmatko.com is down like it always is after a big fight night....  I guess I will have to wait a few days before I can watch them.

Check out www.mma-core.com.  They had them up as of 7:30 PDT.

I enjoyed the Silva fight; he had an interesting gameplan and, while he didn't get the ko or tko, it worked.  To those who questioned why he didn't/couldn't get the knockout late in the fight, it's hard to hit a guy who keeps backpedaling and falling down.  Sidekicks to the knee?  Awesome.  Once Leites failed to control Silva, on the ground, I could see that Leites's will was broken.  I, personally, think that Silva is trying to mix up his style so that he does not appear so one-dimensional and becomes harder to prepare for.  As well, Silva is a counterstriker; that is what makes him so precise of a striker.  When your opponent fails to engage, it slows the pacing down.  In a fight like Franklin/Silva, where Rich was very aggressive, Silva had a lot more to work off of and, thus, he showcased some incredible striking.  In the case of Cote/Silva, where Patrick is a powerful striker and Anderson had to be wary of that, Silva mixed it up in an attempt to keep Cote out of rhythm.

I like Anderson Silva's fighting style, and I do think he is one of the best MMA fighters in the world right now.  Of course, I really like Lyoto Machida and I am sure those who didn't appreciate Silva's performance probably don't appreciate what Machida does, either.

I liked the kicks (and the punches) to the leg.  The drunken-dance style sh*t was just that.  SH*T!!  The playing or tickling of the feet was just that too.
Silva's opponent..SAD!  How many times did he drop to the ground (for no apparent reason) in the 3rd round?!  Roll Eyes

I wouldn't mind Silva if he didn't take the whole friggen first round to fight.  I understand feeling out the opponent but come on!!

The first round was a snooze fest. I was actually falling asleep at the bar. Silva will continue to have issues finding good fights in that weight division. Machida will be a tough fight for anyone. All in all it was at most an ok night of fights.
