In fact I think we were going to go to the BW's on Bethel.  My buddy lives in Olentangy Commons so Gallos is right there.

BW's blows, we went to the one in Dublin last fight.

I like Gallos, it's a pretty cool bar and they have good food.

We just rewatched the Silva fight.  Man did he make Forest look horrible.  I can't believe how amazing he is at dodging punches.  The most amazing striking!

Good fight for Penn, pretty dominate throughout the fight.

Kind of glad that I am actually not to drunk to post right after the fight. Grin

Man, I used to love Forrest. But after watching him run from the ring after that embarrassing performance . . . pathetic is the only thing that comes to mind.

I know exactly what you mean. I held him in a higher regard than that. I expected him to be more gracious. Silva was awesome.... but his arrogance was a turn off. I think it's time for him to move up into the 205lb.

And Penn.... I'll be honest. I've been wondering why everyone kept calling him the "Prodigy" and a lbs-4-lbs contender. I've only seen him in his shitty fights until tonight. Now I get it. It seems every other fight he's a complete jerk off, with no training going in. People said lbs-4-lbs and I thought WTF I can think of half a dozen lightweights that are better, much less a top fighter period. Tonight I saw it. Tonight I finally saw his skill... the man has incredible body control, and uses everything. Great fighter.  waytogo

^^^

You might just get what you want.  Silva told Dana last night that he wants to move up to 205 full-time.  Even plans to drop his belt to do it.  Only bad part is that for now refuses to fight Machida since they are friends and train together.  I would absolutely love to see a Silva/Machida fight.  Still would be great to see him take on guys like Evans, Rampage, and Hua.

Would also be a great move for the 185 class. Obviously no one at that weight ca beat him.

I guess I have been watching a different Penn. He has won 4 out his last 5 fights. He lost to GSP in Jan of this year but hadn't lost since Hughes in 2006. His takedown defense is legendary. He is called "The Prodigy" because of his BJJ skills. He started BJJ instruction, obtained a black belt, and won the World BJJ Championship with about 3 years of BJJ experiance under his belt, an unheard of accomplishment. It would be like picking up a tennis racket for the first time at age 17 and winning Wimbledon at 20.

Forrest: Wow. Honestly the first time ever I wondered if a UFC fight was fixed. The way he flopped with that glancing strike? Then runs off to avoid the interview? Embarrasing.

I know that was my point. I don't get to watch every fight. Often I'm working or have different plans. The fights I've seen him in were the ones it's generally acknowledged he was unprepared and out of shape for. If those were the only fights of his you'd seen you'd wonder what the fuss was about too. It was cool to actually see him in the form he is generally spoken of in.

As for Forrest, it crossed my mind too. Still saddened.  Cry

Forrest - Game plan FAIL.  All that lead-up to the fight talking about how he's bigger and heavier and meaner... and where was the ground'n'pound?  There wasn't even a takedown attempt.

As for darting from the ring, several sites have stated that Forest went directly to the hospital to treat a broken jaw and check his hearing.  I think the second knock-down rung his bell pretty good.  When I watched it I thought it was a flash KO, and I was amazed he got up.  If that was the punch that broke his jaw, it's understandable that the last poke from Silva was enough to end it.

Ken Florian's GSP game plan lacked two things - 1) a fat BJ penn and 2) GSP's wrestling ability, strength, and 15lbs weight advantage.  The only real edge Florian could claim was Muay Thai, and when he leg kicked BJ he was effective... but he threw very few.  I only saw BJ check one, and the rest landed.  Gotta say that any time I'm matched with someone with better hands than me, I'm going after that lead leg like there's no tomorrow... good boxers get average in a hurry when they can't move forward.

That would be ompletely understandable. I've been watching his twitter and stuff waiting to hear something like that. I'll be relieved to hear it was physical injury andnot poor sportsmanship.
