There are 3 fights that could headline in crappy cards. Having 3 in one card makes for exciting show.

I finally went back to training and I started yesterday at American Top Team. Saw some of the annoying guys from TUF. They are just as annoying in person.

Frankie F'in Edgar!  Penn didn't look right though, no fire or intensity.

Mr. Silva didn't win any new fans during that fight...

Edgar isn't bad.  Getting tired of Penn.

What did Silva do now?!  Showboat the whole time like he has in other fights?
I want to see him get knocked-the-f*ck-out as bad as I'd like to see Lesnar!   Evil

He showboated the first 2 1/2 rounds then did not fight at all afterwards.  During the last couple rounds he must have thrown 5 punches total and ran around, literally.  He was kind of being a douche.  It looked like he could take the guy out whenever he wanted, never did, then gave up fighinting all together.  It went the entire 25 min, and it should have lasted a round and a half.

I want to see him get KO'd now too.  He got boo'd like crazy and they were chanting Maia at the end.  After Rua beats Machita in the next event, Silva should bump up and fight him.  I think GSP might be too small for Silva.

Thank God the wife forced me to take her on a date.

did you take her to Subway or McDonald's?

Did you let her order anything other than a 5$ foot long?

How about from McD's? Dollar Menu only or splurge on a value meal?

So this was a very surreal ppv for me and my friends.

Penn looked weird from the start, I wouldn't be surprised is we find out he was hurt before the fight.  If not, wtf happened?  I really don't want to believe he came out that flat.

Silva- make the beast with two backs you!  If you want to be called the best fighter in the world than make the beast with two backsing act like it.  I can see letting that fight go into round two but knock the make the beast with two backser out already.  Maia was severly outclassed and Silva just acted like a pregnant dog.

Check out MMA Junkie for what Dana had to say after the show.  He didn't even give Silva the belt but just tossed it to his manager and told him "You give it to him, because I make the beast with two backsing won't for that shit"  then went on to say Silva's next title defense might be on a prelim or untelevised.

If the guy is that motivated he needs to move up and fight Machida which he adamently says he won't do.  By the way Rua won't give Machida that much of a fight again.

I'm conflicted about Silva's performance.  I keep thinking that if I could control distance, counter-strike, and move like him, that's how all my fights would look, too.  It's a competition, not self-defense, so there's no pressure to protect your life and judge's decisions are wins too... so why close distance and let the other guy get in a lucky shot?  Pick him apart, take no damage, go home with the belt.  So, I can understand that particular approach.  I’m not thrilled to pay to watch that approach, but I understand.  On the other hand, if I had hammers in my hands like Silva, I can't see myself letting guys hang around long enough to have the chance to land one on me... bang them out in the first couple of rounds, put on a god-awful t-shirt and obnoxious hat, give a sing-song interview through my interpreter and haul ass back to Curitaba.  There’s plenty that can go wrong tap-dancing around the cage, and if that fancy foot work caused me to slip on a wet spot I’d really, really regret not letting my hands go early and often.

The only thing that struck me as out and out wrong was Silva’s hypocrisy during the fight.  He was taunting Maia for not being willing (or able) to close distance and engage Silva with strikes on the feet.  At the same time, Silva got Maia on his back multiple times, but wouldn’t follow Maia to the ground to bang him out.  You can’t have it both ways – if you’re gonna call your opponent out for not playing to your strength; you can’t also avoid playing to your opponent’s strength.
