Nice. She's marking her territory as well as pushing off all responsibility. Sounds like a great person to work with. I had a boss like that once. He accepted zero responsibility. It was never his fault. Luckily he screwed up enough they sent him away as the area was too critical to have an idiot in charge of it.

The responsbility of the transaction fully on my shoulders.

But don't send some rude, unwarranted email like that.

In my head and life...........that wire gets treated like one I just sent for 275 GBP.

yay, i get to complain about my co-workers and boss more!

i sit in the corner of 4 pods (4 mini cubes per pod)
the guy diagonal to me sings, plays his music loud and *twitch* chews louder than a make the beast with two backsing cow
the woman to my left (over the main wall) condescends to everyone (we call her mini-me in ref to our boss), and laughs far too loud. ohh and there's also her phones (yes phones - 1 desk, 1 work cell, 1 personal cell) ringing and the talking. everything is major emergency and she talks like a yippy dog barks. i see her sitting in her chair rising up and bouncing as she gets higher pitched and louder with each new phrase and sometimes word. then there's the whining when something isnt' right or when she has "too much to do"
she's also a team lead who applied for the position.

Our IT manager and I are on equal footing. We both report directly to the owners.

She is great at business specific software related issues. I handle everything else. I am damn good at what I do and I have saved this company tens of thousands of dollars in wasted IT expenditures which she thought was necessary before I started.

Up until a few weeks ago, I considered her a friend.

A few weeks ago, they found a growth on her husband's knee. They weren't sure what it was and they had to go to the Mayo clinic for a few days.
While she is/was away, I ALWAYS cover for her. I always do a fine job of keeping things from piling up and she has never had any issue with me covering stuff when she is away.
On the second night of her being out of the office, I get an email which has her CCed on it about an issue that needs to be taken care of. She immediately responds that she is out of the office but she will take a look at it from her hotel.
I respond with:
"Cristy, I have this under control. Don't worry about work stuff while you and Jeff are away. You should be focusing on that. If there is an issue I need your help with, I will give you a call. Give my best to Jeff. Regards, Ryan"

So 2 days later she is back in her office. She sends me an email requesting that I come to her office.

SO I go into her office and she is smiling and asks me to close the door. I close the door, turn around and her face is suddenly changed into this expression bordering on rage...she then says to me almost through clenched teeth, "Don't you EVER make me look like that again. What I do during my personal time is none of your make the beast with two backsing business and if I choose to do work while out of the office, that is none of your concern. Going forward, if I am listed first on an email, I will handle it and you need to keep your goddamned nose out of it."

I stand there for a second in disbelief and then without a word, turn around, walk out and go straight to the owner's office to ask to speak with him. I explain the situation to him and her reaction and said that there really was no grounds for her lashing out at me. He agrees and then asks to speak with her privately and then a meeting with the 2 of us together.

So things seem to be cleared up. She apologized to me in front of the owner but ever since then, she has had an only slightly veiled anger towards me.

Then the other day, she sends me an email stating that she needs me to bring in a doctor's note for my wisdom tooth extraction stating why I needed to take the day of and day after off.
I responded and BCCed HR with: "Cristy, HR informed me that because I was using vacation days and this was scheduled 30 days out that I was not required to provide a Drs explanation. Please explain why you need a Drs note from me for this. Ryan"

Her response was, "I don't need an explanation as I am your boss. And come to think of it, I think I am going to need a Drs note for each absence you have had since starting here. Please have these to me by the end of the day."

My response(BCCing HR AND the owner this time): "Cristy, As you are well aware, we both report to Jay and are equal in both responsibility and pay scale. Our positions are set so that they compliment each other with each having exclusive responsibilities which the other does not regularly handle. As such, if this request comes from Jay or HR, I will happily comply but until then, I feel that there is no obligation to acquiesce to your unreasonable request. Please forward this request through the proper HR or chain of command channels if there is a valid reason. Sincerely, Ryan"

She at that point comes into my office and says that I need to take the rest of the day off to think about my priorities here.
I get up without saying a word to her and walk into the HR director's office and ask her for a meeting. She reads the emails then asks me to go ahead and go back to work. I do. She calls a meeting with the IT manager. And ever since, Cristy has been bending over backwards to try and be nice to me.

Most of the people I work with are pretty cool, but there are a few... bang head bang head

There's a couple of people that, when they work, it's like a lazy contest.  Everyone has to help them out because they can't handle their job.  They are constantly complaining that they are doing more than somebody else, even when they have the healthiest patients.  The thing is, they usually have the healthiest patients, because they can't handle the workload associated with the really sick ones.  Then they complain that nobody ever gives them "hard" patients or lets them be in charge.  What?  You have to make a phone call to pharmacy, fax an order down, and crush a pill and you are overwhelmed and complaining?  How do you expect anybody to let you run a unit or handle a kid with multiple drips and active bleeding?    bang head  These are the few people who are always feeling "slighted" and looking for some grievance to file.

nitewaif's story reminds me of one of the people that was working for me. I do software installs for a large computer system(ERP & Factory Planning). It's really complicated and manual. There is zero room for error. One mistake and it's hours trying to figure out how to fix it and hoping we don't shut down a plant(s).  It's like being a janitor, no one cares as long as you do your job. When you don't then everyone notices.

This woman had vision issues but other wise was really smart. But she couldn't get anything right. I personally trained her and I knew she understood everything and knew how to do the job. But no matter what she would screw things up unless I was sitting with her. Then she would do everything perfectly without any help from me. I walk away and everything goes to shit. So she ended up horribly screwing things up and I had to fix it. Afterwards I send the project lead an email saying I will not let this woman do any more installations. A the email get forwarded around and some info on the mistake and fix get sent around. The after all the fix info is in there the Lead then sent the email to all the team including the woman saying please read the entire thing - and my email is in there.  bang head So a few minutes goes by and I hear her crying her eyes out. She then emails me and my WHOLE team & Project management on how I was being an asshole. So I reply back she is an incompetent idiot. Repeat 3-4 times, including the crying. To everyone. I finally said I am done emailing. I went to the Project lead's office and told him to get her off my team. It took at least a month as her old team manager didn't want her back.

The thing was she was fully able to do the job but she just didn't care. I didn't understand it. oh well...

Shit... I thought being essentially ignored by the rest of my team was bad.  15 women, and me.  It's great watching your entire peer group go to the company cafe for lunch and not even look your way as they pass your desk.

If I could figure out a way to stop working to make other people rich I'd be out of there in a heartbeat.
