First big storm is coming this week, so make sure you are prepared.

- Time to break out the warm waterproof gear
- Don't forget the first part of the rain brings up all the oil etc, if possible wait a bit to let the slick stuff get washed away
- Painted lines, metal surfaces, Botts Dots, leaves, tar snakes etc get very slippery in the wet
- Allow extra time/distance for braking and cornering (I tend to use both brakes in the wet)
- Keep in mind the bad weather tends to knock branches and/or rocks onto the road so keep a lookout for them.
- Visibility can be poor so assume you are even more invisible than usual

Ride safe everyone. Smiley

Good thread, SG.  I'm probably going to take public transportation if this one is anything like they say it's going to be.  I don't mind a little rain and some brain-dead drivers, but the wind is supposed to be strong, too.  That and it's the first storm?  That's too much bad joo-joo and I've been riding that bridge for 6-1/2 years now rain or shine.  Just sharing my thoughts with people who might be considering riding during the next couple of days.   [moto] safely.

+1 on car/BART/etc. on the first rain of the season. All kinds of sludge and goo oozes up out of the pavement for your traction amusement.

But I'm on a plane to Barcelona tomorrow, so no worries for Mikey.

All this talk of rain, I look it up all last night and this morning and everywhere kept telling me it was going to start when I was at work.  I took the safe route today and drove and still... no rain.  I feel like I wasted a day.

Nah...he might be right.  The news likes to over-report on the weather here.  I think it's because we really don't get weather.  The second a drop falls and a leaf moves it's a "major storm".
