Hmmmm "Vibemme"?? Sure thats a coffee machine?? [evil]

Could give up the booze, given up on women, but will never, I mean never, ever give up grinding my own beans and brewing my own dark, fragrant absalutely delicious coffee!  ;D [coffee]

The only way to start the day, and the morning, lunch, arvo and finish dinner.  [thumbsup]

Just cannot understand how people can drink that powdered SHIT!!  :o

I dont think you have to spend a fortune to make your own coffee!  ???

I've been using a Sunbeam Cafe Series machine (Paid $350 'bout year ago) and a Krupps grinder.  [thumbsup]

I think the important thing is that you get a machine with a seperate water storage and minimum 15 bar pressure capacity.

These automatic everything, programmable, wipe yer bum and blow ya nose types arnt really necessary. Learning to make a good cup of coffee is like learning to play a guitar.?

Learn on a bog standard cheap but competent piece of equipment before lashing out on the better stuff if required! [thumbsup] [coffee]

Got no complaints about my Sunbeam.  8) Speaking of which, I feel the need of a  [coffee]

OK, after years of stuffing around I'd recommend a heat exchanger machine with single E61 group head - that means it's basically just like the ones the cafe's use. Buy a Sunbeam or Silvia by all means, but if you like coffee and hate stuffing around then my recommendation stands. I've gone one step further and got myself a home roaster (Behmor) and that way I ensure I only grind and drink fresh coffee.

IMHO everything else is simply a waste of money.

Happy to sell you my Silvia/Rocky combo if you like. Plus I have at least 3 other grinders not worth owning (for espresso that is).

Now I know I'm biased but to put it in Bling terms - why buy Chinese carbon fibre for your bike when you know you want Shift-Tech?

As always you get what you pay for  [thumbsup]

I just knew that reviving this post would bring a few of you out of the wood work, only need Big to pop his mug ( ;D) up now, but I guess he will just smile and nod and move on.

+1

Thats why i shelld out for the Vibemme. With the E61 Group Head, completly manual, heat exchange boiler etc etc.
http://www.sibonis.com.au/Content_Common/pr-Vibiemme_vibiemme-domobar-super.seo (price has gone up considerably since i purchased it)

40% of it comes down to the user
30% the machine
30% The bean

If you know what your doing, you can make an average bean taste great!

So... Goldie, I reckon you make some of the best coffee around (for me) when do you want me to pop in?
Mmick (I believe we have more coffee freaks in this forum- Brian?)

Mate, you have my number - if you're in the neighbourhood (or planning to be) you're always welcome here!

Hey Brian, the Gaggia is set around setting 4 or so depending on the beands. I subscribe to the overdose school of thinking, and run a 22gram basket as well.

As for beans, Bravo is OK, but if you're around the inner west you are literally spoilt for choice of excellent roasters.

Mecca - in the city
Coffee Alchemy - in Marrickville
Single Origin - in Surry Hills
Campos - Netwown
Tobys Estate - Newtown

If you're in the city on a Sat, you'll more often than not find bigiain at Mecca around mid morning - I joined him there today and bought 1/2 kg of their dark horse espresso blend as well.

Seriously, a couple of the places mentioned above are more than happy to engage with you about getting the best out of your home machine - esp the boys at Mecca (on a Sat, its just too busy in there to chat on a weekday) and Hazel and Dan @ Coffee Alchemy. Mention you're on the ducati monster forum in a lot of those places, and chances are they'll know who recommended you!

Oh, and to monsterdorf et al, a big +1 on a decent machine. Mick, what money do you want for the silvia / rocky ? - may have a buyer for it if you're keen to move it on.... PM me!

Mate, what's that going to run at? $2 - 3k?

on the other end of the $ I've heard good things about those Sunbeam Cafe series too.

Contact me about that Silvia....I could be interested! (could be a good intro machine!)

Silva / Rocky combo is around $1000 new last time I checked, give or take. The silvia is an excellent machine for the $$ and very capable of producing excellent shots.

I just run Vittoria Espresso in the stainless old stove top cafeteria. Love it.

But then I like old air cooled carburetor two valvers.

+1 on the stove top - nothing wrong with those (or carb'd 2Vers either)

My folks are from Southern Europe and they drink Bushells! Probably why they had to come here, coffee refugees.
