Mom and Dad, God rest there Souls.
Dad drove from the time he was 14 up until about 3 months before he died and he was a pretty good driver over that time frame as best I know.
I don't believe he ever wrecked a car and in the 52 years that I was with him he got only 1 traffic ticket and that was on a Holiday weekend when we were on our way home late at night on a lonely stretch of road , a
pulled us over and said Dad was going over the speed limit.
Mom on the other hand always scared me when she was driving because she didn't act like she really was in control of the car.
Mom had several incidents where she backed into things or skinned the paint off the side of the car but she always drove like she was in a hurry. Like her mind was always on something other than driving.
My Dad would never let Mom drive if we went on a vacation somewhere and we drove. Even if Dad had been driving for 8 hours and we only had 2 hours to go .
Never did Mom drive when Dad was in the car.I saw it once and I thought it was going to end in divorce, never after that.
I've always trusted girlfriends to drive but I never felt comfortable being in a car when my Mom was behind the wheel.

Hey I just posted pictures of the aftermath of the three women who drove into the side of my office, ran over my motorcycle, and crashed into the back of my Hummer, in a span of two weeks.
I didn't offer opinion or start a rant. The thread took on a life of its own. Besides any woman who belongs to a Ducati forum is bound to be a great driver.

Just some shots of my recent experiences with drivers of the opposite sex.
I would have taken shots of the Hummer after a third female driver totaled her Camry on the back of it but I couldn't find a scratch.
All of this happened over the course of two weeks.
my heart sank when i saw this... that could very possibly be my bike one day. i pray that it wont be but i have horrible luck.
but on a side note... how much you want for your exhaust?

About 8 years ago, I was driving on the NJ Turnpike.. Minding my own business.. traffic was light and I was going about 70.
There was a minivan about 5-6 car lengths ahead of me in the middle lane, I was in the left lane.
All of a sudden, minivan -- going about 65-70 -- decides to make a 90 deg left turn, or whatever approximation a minivan could do.
I slam on my brakes, but my poor 740 couldn't do it. The minivan slams into the middle barrier -- straight on -- sitting completely perpendicular to the roadway and I impact at about 40-45 mph. Not horrible.
After eating the airbag, I get out to make sure the driver didn't have a heart attack. Why else would a car make a left 90 deg turn on the turnpike???
Nope.
Just a stupid girl, still talking on her cel phone.

that video brought back memories. A friend's girlfriend came over to our apt, and there was a full car width between a parked car and our grill, which was beside our apt building. She tried to navigate into the spot, and ended up pinching the grill against the building, but instead of stopping, she punched it and scrapped every panel on the passenger side of her car.

One time I was trying to parallel park in a tight left-side spot (one-way street) in San Francisco.
My boyfriend at the time, who was from the UK, told me he'd park the car for me. I figured he was used to parking on that side, so why not.
I got out of the car and stood there watching him park. When he finished, I told him that if I knew he was going to "park by feel" I would have just done it myself.
He was flabbergasted, had no idea he hit bumpers several times.

Women drive fewer miles than men on average.
Not this one. I have 260k+ on my '99 Cherokee. Bought it with 3k on it in '01.
One of my best driving moments was with an OEM car we had for product development. Saab 9-3 turbo convertible we were contenting. Was with two very polished (that night) girlfriends. We took it to a neighboring resort town on Lake Michigan, found a spot on the main street, prime spot, perfect parallel parking within a matter of 2 seconds with a half dozen husbands/fathers of 3+ licking their dripping ice cream cones while their wives shopped for knicknacks and the ankle biters fought over who-knows-what.
Touch a button, the 9-3 top
becomes erect
goes up in another 2 seconds, we stroll away and their ice cream is MELTING on the sidewalk.....

she said that she was cut off and made an emergency "turn" and oversteered.
I was behind her. Paying attention. She must have been cut off by a fly or a cicada.
It's too bad, she was cute, but I am partial to desi chicks. I was furious. My 740 was totaled, which I am sure her insurance company wasn't happy about. it was only 2 years old and still under warranty. i didn't drive THAT much, I think I had 9k miles on it.

i see shitty drivers of all races and genders.
i tend to judge more by what state the plate is from than anything around my area.
NJ drivers suck, CT drivers can't figure out what the hell they want to do, what lane they should be in, or what speed they want to go. NYC drivers are just plain aggressive and rude. PA drivers tend to be indignant about their mistakes.
on the gender based thing, i get cut off by more women, and forced over by more men.
and i HAVE to sleep when kathy is driving. i refuse to talk to her because she keeps making dumb mistakes because she isn't paying attn. she realizes she's an awful driver, hates driving, and refuses to do anything about it. i offer to drive allt he time, but she says no.
