i drove my truck down there last fall, had no trouble parking (which was a bit of a surprise)
and to be fair, it was brooklyn, not NYC

Brooklyn is a borough of NYC.

When I lived in Brooklyn people would say they were going to the city when they went to Manhattan and say they were going to Long Island when they drove to Nassau county.  I actually had to show life long residents of NYC a map to prove that Brooklyn and Queens were part of Long Island and that Brooklyn was in fact part of "the city".

Now I argue with the pizza guys in San Diego who ask me if I want cheese on my pizza.
The menu reads:
1. pizza
2. pepperoni pizza
3. supreme pizza

"give me a pizza"
"what kind?"
"plain"
"do you want cheese?"
"do you sell pizza here without cheese?"
"no"
"then why do you ask me if I want cheese?"
"I need to know what you want on your pizza"
"ok, give me a flour, water, yeast, tomato, and cheese pizza and don't spit on it"

Were you born and raised in NYC?

Everyone here refers to Manhattan as "the city"

i miss being able to say "give me a slice" and they just know it's a piece of pizza and not something else.

i was in san diego and had a similar situation -- "give me a slice" and the guy says "of what?"

the spirit of Andrew "Dice" Clay took over and I think I said something like "wunna dem tings youse got right dere, and no fromunda cheese onnit"

Doooood.

Driving in Manhattan is AWESOME!

There are SOOOOOOOOOOO many ways to die.

Sewer gas explosion while you're stopped on top of a man-hole: DEAD!

Scaffolding collapses on your car: DEAD!

Fung Wa bus catches on fire and barrels into you: DEAD!

Suicidal day trader hurls himself off of the 35th floor and lands on your car: BOTH DEAD!

It's a gamble. Every. Time.

the sewer explosions don't happen much anymore, except in brooklyn..  there is a lot more shit in brooklyn

scaffolding only seems to kill old folks and union guys (who reappear as alive after family's been paid death benes)

no suicidal traders.. well, one jumped out of hte roosevelt hotel when i was walking to work one day, but that was on madison ave at 45th.. and he hit the pavement..

Fung Wa buses... well... make the beast with two backs them.. make the beast with two backs all of them...

now see, if KnightofNi had said that I would have folded...

only a true new yorker knows that

if you have a car in NYC that has clean bumpers, it's either a brand new car or a tourist.

i see the same thing in philly.
then again i see alof of NJ plates (that are all bashed up) on cars with messed up bumpers. not all of them are from north jersey. this i know because i am in southern NJ mostly.

i also drove into and parked in manhattan (chinatown most often) in an F150 long bed with an extended cab and didn't get any bumper scrapes or fenders dings.

the only time i had an issue was in williamsburg trying to move into my new apt. jackhole parked me in as i was unloading my mattress and bed pieces out of the tailgate.  laughingdp

also, i dont' want to be a true new yorker. i lived there long enough to learn my way around and to realize that i only want to visit.

i only saw scaffolding fall once. though i did see several windows break out of high rises as i was riding beneath them. (bicycle)

i tried to avoid anything that had asian writing on the side of it.

You'd think that she would have seen every possible question on the test and memorized by that point!

I'm sorry, if it takes you that many times to pass it and you still only get the MINIMUM score, maybe it's a sign...

Don't be sorry .... that is well beyond a sign. Any person in that situation shouldn't be allowed to walk near a road let alone drive on one. If you don't have the mental aptitude to score 60% on a simple (assumed) exam during 949 attempts what chance do you have of driving without causing havoc (read: killing people).

Here's another bad one:

Woman caused 2 fatal accidents at the same intersection...7 years apart.
