Wow, NEVER park your bike on the street.  Buy an alarm and find a better place to park.  I like to ride everywhere I go, and I plan for extra time to hunt down a place to park that is NEVER on the street.   Your story is unfortunately all to common.

If it gets too expensive try Marine Tex Used it once to repair a hole in the case about the size of a fifty cent piece on a CR480. It held for two years before it was sold. Don't know how long after that, but two years! gettin on the gas, Jumps, whoops, trips to the car wash, top end rebuild, all that stuff.

if your going to commute daily, dont bother owning a nice bike. Save the poor 848 and get a beater bike. Sv650, Older monster is quite nice. Thats what my Monster is to me now. S2R1k beater bike.

Sorry to hear about the asshat that hit your bike. I was at a party with some friends and a girl mentioned she had hit a car and didnt leave a note.  After explaining that someone had recently hit my car and left me with a $1200 repair, I informed her that she was a waste of skin. She left the party crying. Hopefully she went to put a note on the car.  I felt bad I made her cry... ok not really.

I was pissed about my car. I dont even want to think about if someone did it to my bike.
