So... I'm in good with the local Japanese bike dealer. He called me yesterday and said I needed to swing by and take a look at something they just got on consignment. I did. It was a Honda Hawk GT. Interesting little bike. SSS, v-twin, 58HP, 43ft/lbs, 370 dry weight.
Should I jump on that for $2200 for a 1st bike for my wife? Input and suggestions are welcome

The Hawk GT should be a fun little bike. For $2200 I think it'd be an excellent first bike for anyone.

They're a pretty good scooter, with a definite cult following.
Pretty easy to get more HP for cheap with a couple mods.

Great first bike! I owned one and found it to be an easy to ride fun bike. I sold it to a girl who took the train from NYC to CT to look at it. I picked her up at the train station in New Haven. She bought it and rode it back to NYC without plates! Test ride it and I think you'll like it.

Already test rode it. Super smooth despite the cold & rain I test rode it. Brakes felt good, no unusual vibrations, Responded very crisply to the throttle, almost as snappy as my FI 900SS.
Also note: FULL Supertrapp system that sounds great. 8500 miles.

I bought one for my son as his first street bike. Very cool bike with character. The Hawk GT was "the" bike to race before the SV came out. I imagine that is why they are so hard to find. I wish I had kept it to use as a track bike.

58hp? More like 45.
Great little bikes, I had an '89 back in the day. My S2R1000 is the bike the Hawk wanted to be when it grew up.

I ride with a guy that has one and he loves it. Good aftermarket and cheap parts. We swap bikes often. I find it is noticeably less powerful, but easier to ride hard than my S2R. That said, my friend lusts over the monster every time we ride.
