Where does a person start with that picture?? Clearly a hypermotard, blacked out parts... Speedymoto sticker in background, pitbull or similar stand, grandma's rug, yellow tie down, wait! Grandma's rug?

Yeah, Pompetta's garage is a pretty plush joint for working on bikes.   [thumbsup]

The only thing I see is the elephant graveyard of monster tail chop parts.

But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

This was hilarious the first time you posted it. Still funny. Grumpin' from the balcony.

Not much to add here other than a pic of a grind-down and powdercoated stock lower triple:

Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

That's awesome, Spidey.   Amazing what making all the parts match does for the bike.

There should be a board rule that everytime Spidey posts he must include a pic of his dash/triple/bar setup.   ;D

Thanks.  Yeah, the powercoating helps to unify the look, and thankfully, isn't so overdone so that it's too overpowering (IMO).  We could have gotten away with having more pieces powdercoating had it been done black, but that particular grey stands out a lot.

For a long time, I really didn't like the look of the stock triples on the pre-696/1100 monsters, and always thought the lower should be much more burly (like the ones Alex Ortner did before Speedymoto started making 'em).  Until Stew did mine, I didn't realize how much of that dislike was because of all the casting.  Ground down they look pretty good IMO.   Still, for aircooled bikes I'd rather see a ground lower and for liquid cooled, a burly billet lower.  The chunkier lower fits better with the radiator and with the forks (especially the gold ones) from the liquid cooled bikes.

Hard to follow the gray beauty, but here is a post powder pic.

996 forks, BoomTubes, frame sliders, CRG bar-end mirrors, vizitech integrated tail light, rizoma front turn signals, rizoma grips, cycle cat multistrada clip ons, pantah belt covers - more to come

I plan to get SpeedyMoto triples this Winter - Santa has been notified.   It sounds like all of the Ducati forks are the same diameter.  Can someone confirm that the standard triples fit both Showas and Ohlins?  I'm asking because on the Aprilia they are different.  They only list one triple on the SpeedyMoto website - I think.  Thanks.

You need to check your forks with a caliper. Most Monster forks are 50mm / 54mm (upper/lower diameters).

Showa SBK forks are 53/53

Ohlins SBK forks are 53/56

Watch the PC on the edges of the holes to make sure they don't scratch the hell out of your forks.

Good tip.  Since the pic, I have trimmed all that over powder off with a utility blade.  I am a bit concerned about that.  I have some SBK forks annodized black and I REALLY don't want any install scratches.

I had planned to do this work myself, but I have been sitting on the forks for like 9 months and I can't seem to find the time. Instead, I'm letting the place that is replacing my tank do the install.  They have a great rep with customs, so hopefully the forks will be OK.
