switchin pipes ...
«
on:

Hey,
Was thinking of switching my High mount termis back for my stock pipes (just to try that setup out) and I understand there is some dependency with the air intake - but is this a matter of performance only, or could I cause damage by not having harmony between intake / outlet?
cheers

Is it something about the High Mounts or is it the loud factor that makes you want to go back to stock pipes.
Depending on ECU fitted and if anything has been done to the airbox you should be able to go between pipes
without too much hassle.

Hey matty,
dont get me wrong i love the termis, just that the bike came with the stocks and wanted to trial them for looks / sound / performance - curiosity really.
I dont know what ECU / air box I have. it says "exhaust kit" on the paperwork.
Raining now so not going happen till next week.

Low pipes do look better on DSS Monsters IMO.
The lack of noise may not impress though.
Have fun doing the change.

I love the look of termi pipes, but a bit pricey

What's your budget, cause MIVV are some of the best priced pipes on the market.
Had'em on my 620 and still hear them on an M800
Where are you shopping here or US market.

I've ordered a Quat D Exbox for mine from the US...pricing is good with the strong aussie $$. They are a bit of a different look (probably not for everyone), but Im not keen on looking at large mufflers on the back of a bike.

Hi Guys,
Am also in similar boat looking at pipe options, if you only replace the stock mufflers do you still need to mess around with the ECU and airbox? Coring the originals looks like the cheapest option though am a bit concerned about stuffing them up if it goes badly.
The stock pipes on the S2R actually look pretty neat.
Ciao.

most get away with replacing the stock pipes, so long as you don't open up the airbox and let it breath better - if you do both, you'll definately need a power commander or a DP ECU or similar.
If you want to go down this path, i strong recommend having a browse at Brad Blacks excelent performance notes - it gives very detailed notes on what differing performance offerings may provide, and even better, he's a DMF and Oz Monster member (being a Melb based fella)
