A damn good Victorian ride:

Started in Malvern, out to Fern Tree gully, the plan was to go into the basin and do the climb up to Sassafras but the fog was heavy so it was cold, wet and foggy...I decided to just motor down to Belgrave then into Emerald and Gembrook. All great roads and great views. across to Pakenham and down to Koo Wee Rup.

Lang lang then onto the South Gippsland Highway - which despite being a highway is actually enjoyable - long sweaping corners and the bike just settles in and purrs underneath you at 'slightly' above legal speeds.

After a brief stop to say hello to mum then it's onto Korumburra and Leongatha comes a right hand at Meeniyan which is the beginning of a fantastic 150km run down Wilsons Promontory and return.

Return was the same except instead of turning at Koo-wee-rup and turning into the mountainous I take a left and cross Pearcedale and pop in to visit a friend for afternoon tea at Frankston...back along the esplanade and home to Malvern.

Hopped off the bike, tachometer read 540km for the day. The 1000ds did around 20km to the litre - so about 240 to 260 per tank. She's a bloody fantastic thing and like any good woman really appreciated being taken out and shown the sights.

A good day and highly recommended to other Victorians. The South Gippsland Hwy and the Wilson's Prom routes are definetly worthy of 'great rides of Victoria'.
