I've done solo +800km backroad days very easily on the ST3. One day I'd like to do an Ironbutt on it just to say I have. 2-up I've maxed out at +600kms with a cranky passenger. Longest day on the Monster was about 700kms on backroads and I found it extremely punishing.

I'm sure they are.. and muttering something about 'poofters'.. But hey, my Monster's got no cup holder, it's spartan, not like them farkled up bimmers.
If he didn't call it quits except for meals, gas, n pee - That's a day in my book
No cup holder? Yikes!
How do people ride, drink coffee & smoke? Me, I can NOT muti task. Wait not true, I've takin' some pics flyin' down the road. Hey look...I multi tasked.
As far as Steve, Yep, food, gas n pee.

Did Manassas, VA to Sparta,NC (no one heard me yell in my helmet when i saw the sign...this is Sparta... that was 400+miles ALL secondary roads....Skyline drive To Blueridge Pkwy....loved every minute of that ride, stop to stretch, and gas. Continued to Deals gap the following day.
Return trip was boring and in the rain mostly....all slab.....600+miles, returned home a day early. Luckily i had helmet speakers, and the DP gel seat.

longest day on the monster was about 900 miles from Thunder bay to Toronto. It was the last day of 6000 mile trip and I had the get-home-itis.

Curiosity struck me, what's the most miles you've pounded out in a single day?
My wife (on her R1) and I did an official Iron Butt Association 1030 miles in 19 hours and 43 minutes.
Here's a map of that trip:
Prior to that, I had pulled several 700-800 mile days in under 14.5 hours while doing some cross-country trips, like my trip to California (12 days and 5618.4 miles)....
Or the trip to South Dakota, over to Niagara Falls, and then back home (15 days and 4908.4 miles)...

Some impressive mileages here!
I ran a California 1000 rally in 1982 on my then-new GPZ750. A two day event, I rode about 500 miles the first, and about 700 the second. The second leg ran from Vegas, up into Death Valley, then back down towards Barstow and ending near Palm Springs. Against my better judgement, I opted to ride back home to Redondo Beach that night instead of checking into the nearest motel. I fell asleep on my bike just west of Corona, but managed to wake up just before running off the freeway. Could not get out of bed the next day. Two days later I started passing a kidney stone I shook loose.

I'm not laughing at your misfortune, I promise. I just find this verbiage, and the image of a rattling kidney strangely funny...

That is very impressive
Regardless of where you ride it, but that route... no traffic there
dusty & I were talking this morning, and she said she hadn't had many days over 600 (been with her on a few when she was on her monster).
That being said, Over 14K New Mexico - Alaska - and back in a month (no cup holder by a long shot. Just heated grips & GPS on a V-Strom 650). Do the math
You ladies...and gents ROCK

It's more impressive considering that the R1 was completely stock (no bar risers or aftermarket seat), AND.......she is disabled with a left leg that is paralyzed from the knee down.
As for the route.....yeah, it was a very wimpy route, but it was the recommendation for first-time Saddle Sore 1000 participants. Vicki had never ridden any further on the superslab than about 50 miles to take the most direct route to Deals Gap, and she hadn't ridden more than 400 miles since her accident. We figured that route would probably be the best way to attempt the SS1000. We would have finished a lot earlier, but she was running Diablo Corsa III tires, and anything over 75 mph was wearing out the center of the rear tire. This forced us to slow down a bit.
We've been planning a week-long trip through the mountains and maybe heading up toward Vermont or New Hampshire for the last two years. $4+ per gallon of gas killed that plan last year, and weak finances ruined it for 2009. We are hoping things look a lot better next summer to make a week-long trip.

Before someone jumps in here:
Wimpy my ass! All that makes it even more impresive.
paralyzed from the knee down?
Shouldn't someone make a movie about her?

EDIT: removed the map that didn't work. I want to ring Lake Erie from Akron through Windsor through Buffalo and back home. It's about 666 miles.
That's my plan for next summer. I'll probably go solo.

1094 miles (boulder to little rock via Amarillo and Oklahoma city). Then a few hrs. Sleep and on to Knoxville for the two entry level iba rides.
On the monster, I rode from Wilmington, NC to Pittsburg, pa. Not sure how many miles that was.
