Dallas, TX to Albuquerque, NM via El Paso....about 900 miles.........on an MH900e.  MH miles on bikes are like dog years.....each mile is about 7 normal miles, so it's really like 6300 miles in one sitting.  Grin

Bay area to Portland OR; 760 miles, and with a recently broken collar bone- ouch! But these days, 300-450 a day is what I enjoy for a 2-3 day trip away from home.

Somebody 's got to be the wimp of the Forum .

I've never done more than 160 miles in one day.

At age 60 + I just like to ride through the hills and forests carving and strafing.

When I was younger I guess I never had a desire to ride anywhere . I did drive my '67 TR-4irs to Penn State to pick up my girl friend but that was on 4 wheels.

In the 30 years that I worked , I can only remember going out of town on vacation maybe 5 times and I flew 4 of those 5 times.

Sorry if that was too much information.

I'm just not a traveler.

Indianapolis to Washington DC after MotoGP 2008.  11 hours riding through Hurricane Ike.  Not afraid of riding in the rain anymore.

I left Indy this year after the GP, finally cleared Indianapolis proper around 5:30 Sunday afternoon EDST.  I checked into my motel in West Wendover NV Monday evening / Tuesday morning around 12:30 Am MDST.  1660 miles in about 33 hrs.  I spent Sunday night in Grinnell IA.  My long day was that Monday, Grinnell IA to West Wnedover NV, 1243 miles 19 hrs.  Previous personal best was 850.

On the salt at BUB speed trials before 8:00 AM Tuesday morning.

Quite an accomplishment, had a mission, don't want to do it again anytime soon.

And no I did not register the ride, I know I did it.

We did 713 miles in a one day trip from Glendale, AZ to Montery CA. That was WAY more than enough for us. We couldn't wait to get off our Monsters after that ride.

We rode there and back for a total of over 1400 miles on a 4 day weekend.  The mileage wasn't the worst of it though.  You forgot to mention sweetie, that we did that in August across desert which means from Phoenix to LA (about 600 miles of the ride each way) it was over 110 degrees out.  That was two years ago, and I still don't think I am over the heat stroke we suffered.

i have trepidation about long rides on the monster. Tires aren't cheap and a lot of where I want to go is pretty flat.

I'm not laughing at your misfortune, I promise. I just find this verbiage, and the image of a rattling kidney strangely funny...

That one, my first, rattled around for nearly 5 days before they finally had to go in the hard way to snag it.  Spent 4 of those in the hospital on Demerol.  Two days after I got home, I ignored my then wife's "suggestion" that I stay in bed for a few more days and went for a ride on my motorbike.  30 minutes later, I performed an inelegant low speed high side, and had to go back to the hospital because I thought I had fractured my hip.  The other four stones I have passed since werent nearly as dramatic.

does 180 miles on an 848 count for anything?... living on guam and hawaii kind of has its disadvantages when it comes to a nice long ride

Great thread!

My first ride on a Monster (or any Ducati for that matter) was riding it back home after buying it in Tallahassee, FL.  I rode to my place in southern Indiana near Seymour in one day, and then finished the trip the next day.  The trip from Tallahassee to Seymour was 763 miles; home from there was 310 miles.

I haven't ridden anywhere near that number of miles in a day on the Monster since, and probably won't again.  I have a Goldwing for that.  For someone that has never ridden a Monster before, and is on the plus side of fifty, 763 miles in a day was enough for me.

I've ridden over 1000 miles in a day several times on the wing, but then you've got stereo, gps, cruise control, a 7 gallon gas tank, and a mug full of hot coffee (or other beverage of your choice) - and a full fairing and windshield out front.

Ride safely.

For me...

460 mi, DIMBY 2.0 back to Buffalo, on my ST4.

We normally like to keep it in the 300-350mi a day range when on trips.

if we are discussing long rides that prob shouldn't have been done...

650ish miles trying to keep up with lethe through the rain and fog at night on mountain roads, with a broken tailbone.

the ride home was better, it didn't rain much, and it was at least light out. i also took a pain killer. but this time i was trying to keep up with lethe and monsterlover.

that was a fun ride home. Grin
