Hi guys, i saw a picture of a Monster somewhere and the guy had replaced the air intake box with 2 conical air filters.

Can anyone give me some guidance on how to do this? Which parts do I need to get? Is there any extra modding required?

Any help will be appreciated. It's almost winter and I have to find something to do heheh  [coffee]

I have a 05 S2R 800. Already has the Power Commander and the full Titanium Arrow Exhaust. Thanks!

is K&N a option? Do I need adapters to fit the cones on the tubes or it will just fit in there?

One kit has only the adapters, one kit has the K&Ns included - some on here have made their own adapter and used K&Ns.

Another nice kit:

Common sentiment is that you will lose power by simply sticking on cone filters.  You need an engineered velcocity stack to help flow without an airbox.

Will this be all I need to do this mod?

Which of the two options here will be the best engineered velocity stacks -TPO's or DucShop's? If my ECU can be adjusted accordingly (don't know how much more there is) I'm kind of ready for this 8)

I just did this on my S4R.

You'll have to remove the crankcase breather box, and top the hose off with a filter -- I bought mine from K&N along with the pod filters for the throttle bodies.

I also bought a pair of OEM velocity stacks off a DMF member (eBay would prolly work too) for $25 and cut off the flairs.  Total cost: $120.

Bolted everything up and I've been enjoying the induction noise ever since!!   [evil]

...and I doubt I'll ever notice the loss of a few HP on the top end.

Are you referring to something similar to this? http://cgi.ebay.com/Ducati-916-748-996-throttle-intake-velocity-stacks-x2_W0QQitemZ370279132610QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item56365b2dc2

Pompetta--- Did you notice the bike running rough and some what stuttering on acceleration? When I removed my breather and replaced with the TPO kit, I did not like the way she ran. Mine was all stock. I would really like to run the TPO filter kit, but I do not want to compromise performance.
08' S2R 1K   That was close  damn near lost a $400 hand cart.

SCDUC, I am fairly confident that the bike will need to be tuned with any of these kits.
