I just noticed that the generator cover on my '03 M1000Sie has a hair line crack on it and is leaking oil.  Luckily it's not bad enough to force me to stop riding it but I will want to replace it this winter.  Other then buying new or used from one of the sponsors here is there any other alternatives?
Thanks
Mike

Two alternatives, buy new: OEM or Mag or buy used: OEM or Mag.
Sorry

You can get a used one on eBay for ~$100.

If you use a California-Cycleworks gasket (recommended), be prepared to replace/sand down the brass spacer for the timing sensor.  This is because the gasket is thicker than the OEM sealant.

The gaskets + hylomar are much easier to work with than the grey gasket adhesive.

at this point it's leaking so slowly that I could ride for a month before loosing enough oil to even have to add any so it's not a high priority just something I want to fix before summer gets here again.

It's 1 1/2" above the small 2 bolt cover.  Probably 2- 2 1/2 long crack.
not sure if I could weld and refinish it for less then $100 if I can find a used on that cheap like someone pompetta mentioned.
Waiting on Duc Seattle and someone else to get back to me w/ pricing on new and used and will keep an eye on ebay too.

thats casue your not doing it right Wink

you need to lick the bike while searching and youll get over 10 results!

seriously, they go by many names, generator cover is not one of them (most people who call it a generator cover are not from the US)

alternator cover, left side cover, left case cover etc.
