I would be terribly remiss if I didn't wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day. Especially, all the vets out there, those of WWII, Korea, Nam and of the recent past and current conflicts.
I am very grateful to you all for all you have done, whether it was on the front lines overseas trying to stay alive or here at home on a base making the system work and flow properly. My Dad was a non combatant flight instructor in the Army Air Corp (pre Air Force) and Jen's Dad lived through hell and them some in the Army surviving beach landings at Omaha Beach/Normandy on D-Day (June 1944), another one at Anzio, Italy (Battle of Anzio January 1944) and yet another one at Sicily, Italy (Operation Husky July 1943). Yeah, you talk about a living hell... shit! He would never talk about it much and then only to me and Jen's brother. Just a little bit, not very much. I am sure he just wanted to forget about it all. But what they did will never be forgotten. Do them a favor and honor them all by instilling that eternal respect for those vets in your kids. What we have and the freedoms we take for granted are due to their efforts and sacrifices. God bless them and all our vets, active and non active and I pray your kids never have to go through what they went though. But make them appreciate those that did.
Thanks.
