curious what have been any if at all problems/gliches or "teething problems" with the new monster 1100 in the past year?
i know there was the whole closed loop "hunting idle" problem with the s2r 1000 motors, and the plastic tank problems on the older style monsters.
did they fix both of these issues so far with the new monster 1100?
any other things to look for or issues that you have seen?

I don't think they found a fix for the ugliness yet.

There have been some reports of 696 style oil leaks (there's plenty of info on that topic for you to search) and there have been a few reports of difficulties when starting from cold. Although so far I have not experienced either of these issues (or any other problem not of my own creation ). And dont be deterred by the "old school", if you like it buy it

The most commonly reported problems are:
Hard to start when cold. Left side front oil leak. Headlight connector failure.
I've had the fortune to experience all three.

oil leak (attributed to breather valve) and difficulty starting. both problems are being remedied under warrenty.

"hard to start when cold" means turning the bike off for 10 and turning it back on and it fires like a champ now.
I had an oil leak - dealer didn't tighten down a hose - but it was front right side.
I had not heard the headlight issue yet.

My S2R1000 does it occasionally ( I mean to suddenly shutt off ).. I sought advise from several Garages and Ducati Dealers all blaming the Euro3 CO2 emission regulations ( not enough gasoline reaches the engine) People who have installed the complete Termignoni Kit solved the problem for good ( here in Europe you might have problems with the Cops as the Bike is no longer approved for road circulation...but this is the theory as Cops are not mechanics! The only hassle would be to put everything back when it is time for the "Motor Test"..don't know what you call it in the USA). I think that remapping the ECU would be enough...but in Ducati seem to be slacking off However it happened to me only a few times and now it is very rare and things improved when I put new (only) Exhausts....I think that also dirty gasoline might have its role......now, whenever is possible a put Shell VPOWER...

I've had this same thing happen to me. Same thing, hit the starter and it fires right up. Not a huge issues since it does it with the clutch in. I don't have an answer for this. Also, On the poor starting issues, I have found that it only happens if I turn my bike on, let it go through the boot cycle, get to where it tells me my mileage and then it wait a while before trying to start. If I hit the starter right when I see mileage - no problems at all.
