It puts the billet aluminum on the motorcycle...

AN AUSTRALIAN Olympic cycling champion suffered a seizure after a ride on Ducati's Desmosedici two-seater racer at the Valencia MotoGP circuit on Sunday.

Stuart O'Grady collapsed soon after the high speed ride on the back of former GP god Randy Mamola but has now been given the all-clear and released from hospital.

Medical experts believe the nasty turn was probably triggered by the stress on his body from the extreme experience.

"When the ride finished of course I could feel my heart rate soaring, my blood pressure rising, but I didn't give it much more thought," said O'Grady, who has also won two stages of the Tour de France.

"But then I started having blotchy vision and 20 minutes later I had a seizure and collapsed."

you figure...a cyclist like him who probably has a regular heartbeat of around 50-65 bpm at rest, who when cycling has a maybe 120bpm depending on the stages and how he ramps himself up to that....

on this, he probably went from regular bpm to way accelerated bpm too fast and his system just wasn't exactly prepared for that....the only thing that kept him upright from collapse was probably the adrenaline pumping endorphans during the experience.

Stuey O'Grady's one of my favorite racers and one of the toughest guys in the pro peloton -- and always good for a fun quote.

"The ride around the Valencia circuit was unbelievable," said O'Grady, who rode pillion behind MotoGP legend Randy Mamola for the hot lap. "I've jumped out of planes, been in a Russian fighter jet, a V8 Supercar, the works - but the twin seater Ducati blows them all out of the water!

"I have never come close to the experience of hanging on for your life.

"The braking on those bikes had my feet coming off the rear pegs, and my butt way off the seat, the acceleration meant I needed my FULL strength to hang onto the machine and not get flicked out onto the track in front of 90,000 fans," he explained. "It was something I will never forget and would do again tomorrow if my body could handle it."

See, I'd love to ride those things...but knowing myself, I'd be fighting Randy to drive the thing.
