I've heard them on the street and track and the track was running a pack of 4 of them.  sounds like a bunch of fighter jets about to destroy something.  I love that sound and if/when I can afford one I'll have one.   bow down

the desmosedici RR isn't not 800cc. It is a 989cc road replica of the GP bike, the year before it went to hell and they pulled the displacement back to 800.

Duh.. my bad.. Was thinking of Casey's bike..

It may be that the one that I heard had the street pipes on it, but I think that it was more the absence of bass, that roar and rumble of the V-twin sound that I had stuck in my head was more of what I was expecting.

I think that if I had to describe it, I'd say that it sounded like there was a very angry Tasmanian Devil trapped in the engine.

I also think that I probably would have sounded better racing by at 100+ mph rather than at idle and at low speed. There's no denying that it certainly sounds like a healthy race bike though.

I think they sound great!  bow down

But you're right...not as deep as a typical Duc, especially the 2-valvers. More of an angry, high-strung sound.

1999 Ducati Monster 900 - Sil Moto Spaghetti Headers Only

Deep? With no pipes, I lost at least 20% of my hearing, but I just "had to know" what it would be like to hear it at idle with only the spaghetti headers. Answer: ridiculous. I wish I had used something more than a tiny handheld camera for this.
