The desk clerk is a dumb ass. He should have told the guys he made an error but instead of refunding them the money that he would hook them up with free cable movies for the night (which the hotel would pay for and would cost more than $5) and kept the whole $5 for himself.

the price of the room isn't the issue. the issue is the dishonest desk clerk. he prob sneaks into people's rooms and raids the mini-bar too.

OK, here's the easy solution.

The men were charged $30, when the should have only been charged $25. They SHOULD HAVE received a $5 refund. But they didn't, they received $3 back (meaning they each paid only $9). The hotel kept the $2 making the actualy price of the room $27 not $25.

No...the easy solution is all of them saying make the beast with two backs it and going to the strip club.
