ready to buy new 696 need advice

I want to buy a new 696 (pearl white preferred, but would consider red too) before the end of the year. I contacted a few dealers here in Florida. They both offered the bike to me out the door for $9400. My question is this the best price i can get? What if I wait until right at the end of the year? Am i rolling the dice too much at that point? I have to assume due to the economy some dealers are hurting. Would they throw in some accessories? Any chance they would offer the first two services that Ducati offered in Oct? Please advise.

Go in and bargain with them, tell them you want termi's fitting for that price as in the current economic climate the customers king, and don't be afraid to walk out the door as he's got the stock and your phone number and will chase.

If you are ready to buy with cash/check in hand, then you can deal. if you are just calling around, they will always quote you list price. If they have the bike you want, tell them what you want to spend and see how hungry they are.
I personally think that the Termi Carbon Exhaust with ECU and Air Filter is a must have. I bought mine at the 600 mile service, but you may be able to incorporate this into your initial purchase for significantly less. Many dealers have this kit in stock, so adding it to your bike shouldn't delay delivery. The Carbon heat shields are nice to have too; simple to install. They may not have these in stock and so that could be labor your negotiations. You may want to obtain and install these yourself.
My NJ Dealer has been great to deal with at the purchase and with service and accessories since.

Yes, I am ready to purchase. I have been preapproved through my credit union at 4%. Its just a matter of finding the best deal that I can. I would buy tomorrow if I came across a dealer that is ready to work with me.

Considered used? With the current economic climate I have seen several 696's with Termi's for $8500. Would your financing allow you to buy used?

I paid $7,000 for a bone stock red 696 with 1,000 miles and $7,200 for a white one with Termis and 4,000 miles, both within a week of each other.
Unfortunately, I've never seen such deals since. I now need to replace the red one after my wife totaled it.

how much you borrowing? motorcycles have a way of becoming paperweights and owing 8 grand at 4% hurts when your bike is under a van. (I'm the financially conservative old bastid here who thinks financing toys is a really bad idea). Save and buy something used for cash in the Spring or in a few years. Unless you have the cash already and it's making more than 4% somewhere, you can't afford that bike right now. But by all means get something else to ride ASAP because putting off riding entirely to get a dream bike also sucks.

I posted about it. She's fine. It was a low-speed low-side that bent the steering stop. Our insurance adjuster decided that meant the frame needed to be replaced which led to totaling the bike. I'm confident that for less than $1,000 it could have been returned to mechanically perfect condition and for about double that (using eBay replacement color panels) to cosmetically perfect condition. We would've done it, too, except the insurance was going to give us nearly $1,000 more than we paid for the bike and would've charged nearly $6,000 for it with a salvage title.

Doesn't matter if you're old or a bastid - it's still a bad idea. Of course, I'm also both so maybe that's why I agree with you.
