Bummer that you're heading to Hilton Head.  Very yuppie and stepford like.  If you're into that sort of thing then you'll love it.  Take a trip up here to Charleston.  Lots of cool shit to see and the foods pretty good.  Have fun.

Not necessarily moto-related, but if you're gonna be in the area, I recommend heading 30 minutes south and exploring Savannah, GA. The historic district is awesome during the day, and River Street has some great night life. They've got a great open-air market on the weekends, too.

Seriously, I highly recommend Savannah Dan's walking tour of the historic district. Might seem a little geeky, but its a really good way to spend a morning or afternoon.

Tour of the Charleston historic district down by the Cooper river, starting at the slave market - yea, bar hopping.  There's a bunch of very good, very nice bars all through that area and plenty good historic type stuff to see.

The museum just a couple blocks over on Meeting st. worth a visit for sure.  The rice culture and the black culture that made it all work and just the idea of a slave market - pretty neat place to spend time.  Very good restaurants all through there too.  Good oysters this time of year too.

Walk down through the old homes along the battery.  I really don't want to live there all the time, but Charleston's a great place to visit.  Feels like home to me.

Oh yea, they do have a Ducati shop too.

Roebling Road is about an hour away outside Savannah.

You could also travel to Beaufort which isn't too far away from Hilton Head... it's a nice little place with some decent restaurants and sights... But I would definitely going to Charleston, I guess I'm biased though.  Great town with enough to see and do.  Tons of great food, golf, etc.  Email me if you want some further suggestions of exact places and sights to see.  Sniderjw1263@yahoo.com, and hope you have a good trip.

I just want to clarify something.  The slave market in Charleston was built after slavery was abolished.  Yes slaves were sold in Charleston, but not at the current market.  Common misconception of my city.  Definitely take a trip up here.  It's worth it.  Enjoy.

Somehow I was thinking you were at Kiawah Is.  which is about as close to Charleston as Hilton Head is to Savannah. Savannah's a cool town too.  All along the river is good - bars etc.

Yea, the race track is right there.

Charleston is not that close to HHI...over 2 hours the last time I drove it.  Plus traffic will probably be terrible.

Hilton Head is a cool place- good restaurants and good bar scene.  There are lots of young service industry types because of the tourism.  The Lodge, Reilley's, and Brew Pub are three bars right together off of 278.  On the weekends there is usually a band at one of them.

If you ever have to go again The Heritage golf tournament is awesome- more partying than golf.  They also have a Concours that you just missed by a few weeks- I've never made it down to it but looks awesome:

Roebling in a non spectator track, but it is the best bet of seeing racing in the area.  There is an old indy lights race track directly across the river from downtown Savannah.  Sometimes it is open to street trafic  [moto]
