Before I go out and spend money on clip-ons, I am thinking of just turning the handlebars upside down on my 2006 S2R1000.  They are the stock tapered bars made by Magura.  Has anyone seen a bike with this mod or done it themselves?  Obviously I'll have to do some drilling for the controls, brake & clutch reservoirs, etc, but will I have to make further mods so the bars don't damage the tank?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've done it. Since it's a free mod, it bang for the buck is great. I just ground down the locator nubs on the switch gear and adjusted the sweep to make sure they didn't hit the tank...

i did it, but didn't care for the awkward sweep angle it created.. and it created wierd clearance issues for me with brake masters and stuff...

get suburban machinery bars. about as close as you can get to clipons without going all the way.
i might have a set for sale soon...

For those that have the 1 1/8" SM bars, what bar ends are you using?  I recently bought some, I was running rhino moto bar ends with crg's, they don't fit the new bars.

if the fit is to tight you can drill out the bar.

Quite the opposite, the ID of the new bars is much larger than the old ones.

i had no problems... my stock S2R800 (non-dark) barends fit just fine. I have my mirrors mounted directly to the bar to fill in the gap left by my rizoma grips...
