Billet Resivor caps 696
«

Anybody ever try these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-CNC-DUCATI-RESERVOIR-CAP-CAPS-MONSTER-695-696-S2R_W0QQitemZ290372530924QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item439b8d32ec?
I was wondering about the fit & quality. I've also seen some cheap carbon parts on ebay & was wondering about them also there the ones from China
Thanks

I have them, never installed them, willing to sell for $25.00 shipping included, US. They are black if interested.

The chinese stuff blows.
The Slingshot Racing stuff 'gold' is a little too orangey for me. Their shorter reverse shifter is perfect for monster owners with factory rearsets on the pre 696 bikes.
My experience is limited to the shorter shifter and their alternator side cover puller, both of which are very simple parts, but fit and finish was as good as any one else's parts for those two. My only gripe was the orange-ness of the shifter, but only because I didn't have other stuff that matched. It held up great for thousands of miles and level of detail etc in such a part was the same as the DP part I have in the spares box, and a MW.
But again, if they haven't fixed their gold for their shifters, get black or silver. The gold they used for the alt case puller looks spot on to everybody else's gold, which makes no sense to me (as to why the shifter was orange).

Thanks for the info. It's hard to tell quality when looking at a pic. & with Hong Kong address it would probably be real hard to return stuff if you don't like it. The res. caps don't even look good in the pic. but I haven't seen any other billet caps for the 696 so I'll just wait. I might try a small carbon just to see what kind of quality there selling if I do I'll post up with my 2 cents.

slingshot is in california, They fill a great niche between higher priced, showy billet and the oem stuff, where its more about getting a billet cap or shifter that works because your stock one looks kinda crummy, corroded or broken, etc.
You should also look at Lighttech and ProBolts for reservoir covers, and check with other board sponsors or general vendors for replacements. (Motowheels and Desmoworks as examples) There's billet reservoirs like Rizoma and Spiegler's ABM you could try as well.
the hong kong stuff (i've got a set of mirror brackets for my GP radial brembos) is some of the worst anodized stuff on the market. Sufficient quality level of machining i suppose, they certainly do their job, but faded from black to brown in less than a whole summer.

Thanks, if they have red I'm getting some. I'm just buying some stocking stuffers for the GF bike so I don't want to go all out on the Rizoma res. I did check with motowheels & a other sit sponsers but did not see the caps.

I bought their billet gas ca in black. It discolored very quickly and was a pregnant dog to screw in. Also the plastic 'funnel' attached to the gas cap fell into the tank and caused me all sorts of grief at the pump with fuel flying all over the place.
Poor fit, plus quick discoloration - not things I would suggest when covering your reseviors.

My black ones look gold now, took about 4 months. Kinda sucks but it was a pain to get them on (yeah it should be simple but they leaked) so for now, I'm leaving them on. Save your money IMO
