"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

and for the record, this filter is black, not red like most of the Bladwin filters.
The ones I get for my Alfa are black as well.

If you or anyone is interested i could probably get them shipped to you, i think they are around $10 a piece but i will see if there is a price break....pm me.

Tell you what, I think I still have 5 or 6 PerfForm filters left.  I'll keep your info and let you know when I need some more.  OR, next time you order why don't you post up for a group buy.  I'm sure you could get a price break if you ordered a few dozen.  I'd be in for 6 at least.

are the baldwins supposed to be That good?

when i get one, i'll cut it open and we'll see!

i have heard the perf-forms are excellent using top notch filter medium

An Alfa guy told me that Baldwin filters were the best in the world, except for the felt MANN filters (that cost $30 each and are only made for a few European cars.)   Part of "best" though is ability to handle higher PSI's than most (as I think you'll find when you take it apart.)  IMO, that's a moot point on our bikes.

True, but if you read the disclaimer on the Perf Form site, I wonder about this:

QuotePerf-form - Microglass / synthetic
enhanced media at 50x magnification. Not all Perf-form medias are identical.

From the "See the Difference" page.

i've seen that, and i thought the difference was made in USA vs elsewhere -- that all the USA filters had the microglass media

Hard to say.. I just looked at all my Perf Form filters and they all say "Made in the USA" and FWIW, the BMW F650 filter looks exactly like the OEM filters.  (Yellow paper-looking medium)  Whether it's the same or not, who knows? (My electron microscope is in the shop.   [laugh])

Oh, and FWIW, Some distributors I've seen label the filter as "DUC-1" but the Perf Form PN is "OF 0008."

I'd like to start cutting these filters soon, if anyone wants to send me a filter, please do it.  I want to cut them open at the same time to reduce hassle for me.

see first post for what I've received and what I'd still like to get:

PM sent.  I'd be ashamed to send off a dirty old oil filter and I'm happy to donate a new filter or two.  I've received a lot more from this board than I've ever put back so it's a good cause.  I'd also think some of our well heeled businessmen members like Ducpainter and Speeddog would be willing to donate a filter.  ;D

Well, I coulda sent him 20 dirty oil filters, but I don't think they'd pass the USPS/FedEx/UPS hazmat restriction.  :P

what brands?  if you have anything on my list, just double-bag it in two quart-sized freezer ziploc bags.  it will be messy inside when i get it but i don't care, i'll glove it.

I am going to work on this soon.  I have been trying to get as many filters as possible and do them all at once:

I have the following:

Fram PH6019
HiFlo 153
KN-153
Perf-Form OF-0008 (formerly DUC-1)-- i wonder if these are identical?
Athena FFP011 * if I can find it...
Baldwin B7292
Parts Unlimited 01-0066 ("Pro" brand)

Drunken Monkey

I may have an old-school Fiamm somewhere in my pat-rat collection of bike crap.

I'll have my manservant root around for it there just as soon as he's done flossing my teeth and cleaning my monocle collection.

well-heeled, indeed [roll]
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

if you find it, PM me.  I finished cutting open all the others today, will be taking some pics tonight and posting results in a separate thread.

Suffice to say, I found some VERY interesting things out...
