this is a derby of another thread that I zapped because it wasn't very clear.

Would you trade maybe $400 plus this;

1996 Monster 900 10K or so miles, now with 3-piece Cyclecat clutch cover and seat cowl

for one of these;

1999 6K miles

my bike has about 10-11K miles, the 748 has 6+, and is 3 years newer.

What the hell are you waiting for?!?!?!?!?!!?   Seriously, as stated, if the 748 is in premo condition and has already been examined for the dreaded flaking rocker arms issue, i'd go for it.

service history and rockers... everything i read is that's a pretty expensive bike to maintain and the rocker changeout is $$$

That won't be a loss once you ride the 748, as long as the sbk is in good shape.

i saw a FANTASTIC 748 special.
He kept the front end, took off the side fairings, put on standard bars, moved the battery under the seat, etc.. and then went and painted it one of my all time favs Gulf Racing blue and orange.
incredible looking bike. a sbk, monster style

depends on what you are doing.

i asked this question and from what i hearf from peopel that owned 748 is that they are great track bikes and great bikes for canyons and such but horrible for everday use and such,

if you are only going to use this thing for nice weekends and such and maybe the ocassional spiritied ride then ive heard its great, if you use it for anything else like truly replacing the all around use of a monster then its not worth it according to peoplethat have owned them.  but hey this was all through emails.
