No, not that kind of ride.

That was after the Duati store..
[evil]

Anyway, we went to test ride a new Monster but I ended up taking a Streetfighter out for spin.   Wow..what a jump from the current Duc!!  After a quick stall at the light, (and not getting it started back up due to the advancement in the start button since '03)..I cracked the throttle.  I think I was nearing 90mph in a 40 zone in about 2 sec!! :o  Fun bike but I don't want to double my maint. fees with 2 extra valves.

Some good deals on Monsters before the end of the year, including, a 4 year warranty.  Typical price is $11,999.  The dealer is telling me they'll make a deal.  I'd like to know how low I can get this thing for.
Anyone get a good deal on the 1100?

it shouldn't be double. aside from "other stuff in the way," the labor to get to the valves (pulling the valve covers) is basically the same for the 2v and 4v motors.

you also may not have to adjust the valves. (iirc) out of four valve "services" on my s4r, only the first one required an adjustment (and that was because i had the cams degreed).

HeMan..the current bike is an '03 620 nearing 72K miles.

Thanks for the info Derby. My mechanic has been steering me away from the V4. Especially now that I am back here in AZ..the miles are adding up very quick!.  Maybe for him, the service price goes up? The rate I'm going, he thinks I'll be back to see him every other month. Good for him..bad for me and my wallet.

But it, IZ, buy it!!!

So what if the V4 needs a little more maintenance, just think about how much you loved riding it.

[cheeky]

I don't worry much about typo's as I've only had a blackberry to browse/post.

BP..nope..no pic to post.  Of course, when I go back to pick it up!

BTW..thinking I should take off the SIL Megaphones and put the factory pipes back on when I trade in my bike.  Any thoughts on this?

The switch on the SF is different from the '03 Monster. I wasn't planning on taking a test ride so they gave me gloves and a helmet.  When it stalled, I couldn't feel the on/off switch/button with those thick gloves.  Plus, watching in the rear for oncoming traffic to nail me on a $15K bike that wasn't mine..just wee bit of a stress.  ;)  It was probably about 3 seconds in real time but felt a lot longer.  Oh well..got it started and had a fun ride!

WAIT!

how did i miss the "latest" change in your plans? you are no longer going to Asia for work? was it in the WTF thread?
I'm here for a good time, but not a long time.

BastrdHK

Get the full 5yr Ever Red extended warranty thrown in.  That is a heck of a deal.  Ducati won't throw huge discounts out there, b/c there is not a lot of margin, especially on the monsters.  Why wait for $500 off in six months when you can be enjoying the new scoot today  [moto]

Let us know how it goes!
M-ROCin' it!!!

Herm, I didn't take the job in South Korea. We were both offered great positions here though so we'll be sticking around for a little while longer.

I would do it IZ.  I just got a screaming deal on a new KTM SD and can tell that this thing is going to be stupid fun, even with not being able to crack it over 6500 rpm yet.  I could only imagine what the SF would be like.   :o
