No insurance for Ducati
«
on:

My Ducati S4 in Thailand is now 8 years old and can no longer be insured foranything more than basic Government 3rd party only $16 a year so bike is legal...but no fire, theft, bailbond .or accident cover is now available the insurance companies just wont give that level of cover on anything over 7 years old ......stupid aint it.the bikes worth $14000 here even a 7 year old RR cars would be uninsurable and still worth $500,000.
Only Harleys can get insurance after 7 years of age!!!!!!!!!

So what does the $16 cover if it doesn't cover theft or accident?
A little off topic, is there a dealer in Thailand? I think from previous posts, you mentioned you were in Bangkok right? Just wondering where you get it serviced.

You should move. Come here to Texas where most cars on the road don't have the state required insurance anyway. And most of the drivers are illegals from the "South" and have no drivers licenses. Weee, what fun!
I love paying extra for that coverage!
Where's my stimulus check to cover that?

can you purchase supplemental insurance? You know, you set the value (or an appraisal sets the value) and you pay the premium for that amount?

The $16 Government insurance cover 3rd party its mandatory ...but for Fire,Theft ,bailbonds, comprehensive and medical cover you have to go private ..and the companies are idiots.

That sucks but when you're riding a 13 yr old bike like some of us, insurance will just total you're bike anyway even if you just tip over at a stop sign.

HD is worshiped everywhere in the world. By bikers and especially by non-bikers.
You just can't explain to anyone that Harley isn't the
bestest
bike in the world...
I blame films and television and general ignorance but the Harley obsession runs deeeep.
Hmmm this reminds me, maybe it's high time I drop my insurance to liability only.

Let's face it, real riders appreciate Triumph.

Starting putting away a couple of hundred a month into a savings acct. Pretend that as you do this, you are paying insurance.
hopefully you'll have enough saved up before anything happens to cover the cost. if nothing happens, you've got beautiful forced savings. if something does happens, you are better off since you planned ahead.
