Saw this on craigslist, thought someone might be interested. Never seen one before, but heard(very little)about them.

Seen a few of these over the years. Always thought they were cool bikes. Came with different motors, the 900 with the dry clutch is the most sought after.
Wonder what it needs?

Probably needs a valve adjust, as if it's like my Cagiva GC, getting to the rear head is a good bit of work.

If someone is *seriously* interested, I can go take a look at it.

I'd love to have that bike and the price is not bad.  But it is on the wrong coast and I couldn't fit another bike in the garage.  I could sell the BMW F650 to make space (the sound of the turning wheels in my head are becoming deafening).

This is the Ducati E900 which is the same 900ss small valve motor.  In Europe they were still sold as an Elefant and also in 750 cc form (same SS engine)

Earlier models used the Pantah engine as in the Alazzurra and Paso 750.  There were no wet clutch 900 models, all dry.

They are well regarded, there is at least a few lists for them.  EAB is the biggest and hte owner runs DDL, (Dumbo Development Labs) which makes stuff for the later Elefants.

I had a 650 Elefant....rode it cross-country 5 times definately one of the 2 best bikes I have ever owned, 650 pantah engine, Ohlins shock, finally parts dried up for it, Kenny Roberts had one- loved it.  Don

Heck of a lot more "cool factor" than a DL650!  I sent him a message asking about miles, service needs.  I might even look at it tomorrow if available.

Not that I'm interested in buying a 15 year old Ducati...

Here's an older one (1987 Pantah 650) in Georgia for a little cheaper.

I've always thought it would be cool to have one, but I don't have the room or the money for anything right now.

that is identical to mine.   if the bike is running well, that's a great price.  the engine is a good one overall -- it's the only belt-drive Ducati with a kick starter!  I love it.
