ok i am in the need for a new monster and was looking for a M800, 900, 1000, s2r 800 or s2r 1000. I have always loved the look of the s4r in Titanium with the red frame (2007 only color) I really dont want the 4 valve service price but I found  a 2007 s4r with Termi exhaust, carbon fiber tail and belt covers, Suburban bars,carbon hugger 500 miles pilot powers,DP clutch cover and pressure plate and a few more samll carbon fiber  parts. The bike has less than 6000 miles and I can get it for just over $9000. I really didnt want to go over $6000 but i have the cash.(and could work extra hours to help)  This bike needs nothing else modded, it is exacally what i would do to one...if I got  a s4r. I really exspected to get  a M800 with Termis, and a few extra parts...but I like this bike!!! please tell me what you think good or bad!!!!

That's an S4Rt.

Helps to know where you're located as to whether that's a good deal or not.

I love that color combination.  "t" means it has the 999 motor, not the 996 motor.

'04-06 --> 996 motor.  Called the s4r
'07-08  -->  999 motor.  S4rs or s4rt.

Doesn't sound like a steal to me, but that doesn't really count for anything.

You can check the 'Monsters for Sale' board to get an idea what they've gone for here.

my $.02 here... if you have the money and can afford it, do it... I really do wish I pulled the trigger on getting one when it was new...

I can afford it, but after some thought one of the things I like about 2 valve bikes is how clean they look without the radiator and hoses....I think I will continue looking for a Dark M800

I have an S2 I passed onto the wife and jumped on an S4.  Have you ridden one?  I had the same concerns but after opening the throttle I said to hell with it and bought the 4 valve.  I just purchased mine three months ago used and looked at many like you mention for that same price, seems fair and I live in Dallas where we ride year around and prices tend to be a little higher.  Seriously, if you haven't ridden one jump in the seat and then decide.  I already need a new tire because I can't wipe the smile off my face when I hit the throttle.  [moto]

Never rode one, but I always thought my s2r 1000 was enough, and to be honest liked my M800 more...go figure!

If you ride the S4R/T you will probably buy it.

The damned things are addictive.  I've got 30 something thousand on mine now and it just keeps getting better.  waytogo

As LA says they are very addictive bow down I ride my hypermotard more than the S4RS and it never fails to amaze me when I get on the S4RS at the amount of grunt that the water cooled 4 valve 999 engine has,absolutely awesome waytogo

Funny, I keep thinking that about mine. Only 27,000km (about 16K miles) but I keep thinking to myself she feels better than new.

I love that color combination.  "t" means it has the 999 motor, not the 996 motor.

'04-06 --> 996 motor.  Called the s4r
'07-08  -->  999 motor.  S4rs or s4rt.

Doesn't sound like a steal to me, but that doesn't really count for anything.

I don't think Ducati ever called it the S4RT (could be wrong), but I think the "T" got added by riders to distinguish between the 996 motor and the 999 Teststretta motor.  Therefore, the "T" stands for Testastretta.

The 07's and 08's had the S4R and the S4RS; both with Testastretta motors, but the latter with the Ohlins goodies front and rear.

I've got the 07 S4RS and love it.

Yes, I don't think it was ever an 'official' S4Rt.

Locally a dealer here in NC was asking $9995 for a used S4R, NOT the S4RS with similar mileage.  So, IMO, that's not too bad a price.
